I have a few things I'd like to add to what has already been discussed in the reviews I've read. Maybe for some folks this procedure is simple and casual (how my doctor's office made it sound), but for me it was much more than I bargained for. I'll start by saying I have a high pain tolerance. I was not bothered by the lidocaine shots at all - they were less painful that botox shots that I am quite used to. One problem I had was that I was limited to how much lido I could get because of my weight (110 lbs). I got 19 shots in each arm and that was the most I could have. I have a high tolerance to anesthesia so in truth, this was almost, but not quite, enough to make the procedure relatively painless. Many of the locations were painless, but lower armpit near my breast and the deepest part of the concave part of the armpit were definitely moderately painful in terms of burning sensation. I was told I could return to normal activity immediately but to ice and take ibuprofen. I was not told how much ibuprofen to take however so I starte taking 2 tablets or 400 mg. When the lido wore off the pain was acute. I could certainly NOT have been back at work or doing much of anything. The ibuprofen didn't seem to do anything. The swelling and pain continued through the evening and overnight and the following morning I was in moderate and sometimes severe pain. I called the doctor who gave me a script for real pain meds and a few days worth of prednisone for swelling. The meds helped and after that day (1st day post procedure) things seemed to calm down. It's now day 3 and I am still sore but not in need of serious medication. However the swelling is moving around my torso and I appear bloated and as if I've gained considerable weight. Some reviewers indicated this as well so I am hoping it will subside. I do not feel as if I could or should exercise yet. It's uncomfortable to wear anything but loose fitting clothing and uncomfortable to wear a bra. I am definitely not my normal size anywhere. I am not noticing any sweating at all, however I was previously on botox injections so I was already at a reduced sweating place prior to the procedure. Instead of reduced, there is now none. My overall thoughts are that the Miradry people and also the people performing the procedure greatly downplay the possible side effects and recovery time. It's certainly worth it if it is a semi permanent fix - but I would have much rather knew to expect massive swelling and probable serious pain. Perhaps this does not happen to everyone, but they made it sound as if it was unheard of. And I was participating in a certification for Miradry so a professional rep from the Miradry company was in the room and discussed all of this with me and at no time suggested there would be any serious or even moderate side effects or recovery time. I'm not looking forward to doing the 2nd procedure but at least that time I will be prepared and not intend to jump right back in to my regular activity.

Still some pain...WTH?
abby2121March 20, 2014
Seriously has been weeks and weeks since my procedure - still having pain. I still have small marble sized lumps on both armpits. If I stretch hard in any direction I feel sore. Every single time I apply deoderant or soap my armpits I feel tender and sore. Beginning to think this will never end. Also I feel rather alone in my reaction. Why is no one else feeling lingering pain?

Yep...back to Botox

About 3+ months out now. Sweating is back - at least 50% of what it was pre-treatment. Shirts are wet, etc. And STILL have sore armpits. I am not sure if I plan to have the second treatment at this point...seems far too painful and invasive to be worth the non result. Thinking about demanding my money back. Botox was way better IMO.
