After receiving so much valuable information from reviews on this site which provided the encouragement to proceed with my rhinoplasty, it is my turn to pay it forward with my review. Unlike many, I haven't always hated my nose. I am 100% Italian and my nose has always been big but it didn't really bother me or affect my life; it "fit my face" as they say. I did fall on it while skiing in college and felt that it was slightly crooked since then which bothered me at the time but I pretty much got over it. I never even considered plastic surgery before as I was sure it would end up looking too different from my original nose and that I wouldn't like it. In the last year, it seemed to grow significantly and I became very self conscious about it so I did an internet search one night a few years ago which landed me here. I realized that you can get a nose job with natural results which was exciting! Like many, I am most concerned about my 3/4 profile. I met with two different plastic surgeons in Atlanta and decided the second one as he is a facial plastic surgeon only, also an ENT (doesn't relate to me but I like this regardless) and I liked him and his staff. My husband was super worried that I would change as he loves me as I am but he supported me as he understood how important it was to me. I have only also told immediate family (mom, sister, brother) and two good friends and all have been very supportive. My surgery was less than 24 hours ago so I will report my experience so far and hope to update often.

Day of Surgery

Success! I won't go too much into the technical details as so many others have...my surgery was scheduled for 12:45p, I got there (as instructed at 10:45a) and Dr Robinson arrived at 2:35p. He said I was the third nose of the day! We went into the surgery quickly after he arrived, I got the drip of whatever it is that makes you fall asleep and the next thing I knew it was around 5p and I was waking up. I hung out a little longer and then left with my husband. I was not in any pain but was still on the pain meds. I went home and immediately started icing on/off for 20 min's with some delays in between to talk to my kids or mom (who is visiting for a few days to help out). Eventually, the meds wore off but the pain was minimal-more like pressure and a bad headache. I decided to try Tylenol for pain at 8p and it worked well enough so I didn't take the hydrocodone that was prescribed (and don't plan to). Bruising started at night but was slight and I wasn't swollen at all. I did have quite a bit of blood dripping but it wasn't excessive as per their guidelines. I slept pretty much upright and didn't take the Ambien prescribed as I was worried about the blood. All in all-about what I expected.
