Necrosis Got Worse, But Then It Got Better

So, since the last time, I was baby-sitting dead skin and two open wounds that appeared to get worse. But, with daily changing of changing packed dressings inside each opening, Rinsing with Saline, and lots of anti-biotic ointment to protect the wounds from germs, both areas healed.

PART II — Healing from Necrosis - The journey continues -3-mo Post Op

Here are today’s pictures. The 1st three are from last month. And, the remaining are from today. Im still swollen, but, that is nothing compared to what I used to look like. I’m ready for my new beginning.

Healing from Necrosis - The journey continues -3mo Post Op

Hello everyone. I knew with patience and following the doctor’s orders, I would get through what appeared to be an awful bad area on my abdomen. I knew I would eventually heal and would continue to see results. As you can see, I’m healing at the rate my body can heal itself. However, after being on a high protein diet to ensure no additional skin died, and to promote healing, I’ve gain 7 lbs. I’m beginning to excercise without pain, and have returned to my regular foods such as fish and lots of veggies. I’m happy to no longer see the deep dark black area the surrounded my belly area and below my belly button. Wet-to-Dry Packing of my wounds have been on-going for the past two months. - at least three times each day. As you can see I have taken very good care of Ooowee. I am expected to see the doctor on January 4th; whereas, he had mentioned to expect revision surgery soon. I’m quite sure he is waiting until my Ooowee had healed enough in order to handle revision surgery without further damage to my skin. I think I’ll be ready in another 6 weeks for sure. So, here are a few new pics. I’m finally walking upright without feeling like I’m being pulled by my shoulders or neck area. But I do feel the tightness in my abdomen each morning before getting out of bed. I am now wearing siz 10 in jeans compared to size 16 prior to surgery. The same applies to my dress size too. I have began to donate all clothes that are labeled size 18 and below. - which it nearly everything I owned. I found the local Goodwill and after multiple trips, they recognize me by name. ....And boy, do I have lots of not only clothes, I have shoes as well. I’m a new person and very confident, happy and excited about my new look and the way I feel.

It was meant for me to find the best surgeon. Dr Connors was made aware immediately of my medical history. He advised me if I wasn't physically able to handle the surgery, he would not have performed the surgery. Plus, instead of performing in his out patient facility, he recommended I go to Northside Hospital to ensure my safety. Mostly, I kept his office informed of everything - my Stree test and EKG results. Plus, my cardiologist sent a letter of clearance to inform the doctor of my condition. When calling Dr Connors office, I received answer. They were there for me during my "worrying" moments and ensured me all wold be well. Plus, after the 2nd day of surgery, the Dr. Connors called me to check on me. Who else does that? I'm looking forward to my 1st week PostOp visit. I'll keep you all posted. Overall to this point, I'm grateful.
