In the morning before the swelling gets bad

Has been a whirlwind...

Hello. Sorry, it has been so long since my last update. So, my recovery was going smoothly up until 6 days post-op. I was recovering well just still tired and sore and decided to come off of the narcotic pain medication as I was going to be watching our two year old again. So, the first night I was without pain medication I was so uncomfortable and my sleep was very restless. It wasn't that I was in pain, it was just that I could now "feel" everything and couldn't get comfortable.
The next day with our two year old went well. I was pretty much camped out on the sofa. She brought her toys to me and we played and I let her play on her tablet more than I normally would have, lol. However, with the increased walking around to get snacks and changing diapers I started to notice a slight tenderness in my calf. It felt like a pulled muscle, but I obviously hadn't been doing any activities to cause a pulled muscle. Now, I did a lot of research about complications that can arise from a tummy tuck so I knew that calf tenderness was a symptom of a blood clot, but my surgeon also had me on a daily shot of blood thinners and I had been wearing compression stockings since the surgery, so I blew it off as me just being anxious. Well, that evening I didn't sleep a wink. My mind just wouldn't stop worrying about my calf. So, first thing in the morning I contacted Dr. Ennis. He said we me being on blood thinners, wearing stocking, and my age, there was pretty much 0% chance I had a blood clot, but for peace of mind he gave me a referral to the local imaging center at the hospital. Well, there they discovered that I did in fact have a blood clot, but fortunately it was superficial and not the dangerous kind (DVT). I was relieved it wasn't anything dangerous, but Dr. Ennis said that I need to be referred to a hematologist to be tested for a blood clotting disorder, as with all the precautions we took I should not have developed any sort of blood clot.
That evening I again did not get a wink of sleep. My anxiety was crazy. My body was exhausted from three nights of no sleep, but my mind would not shut off. The next day I had my appointment to get my drains out. I broke down as soon as I got there, three days of no sleep I was delirious and on the verge of a panic attack. I was prescribed Xanax to take before bed, and thank the lord that evening I actually slept!
As of today, I have now had three nights of sleep and finally feel like myself again: drains out and some rest.
As far as the clotting disorder, I had the appointment two days ago where they drew like 10 tubes of blood. I won't find anything out until next week, but I was told if it comes back positive for a clotting disorder I will need to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. FYI, I have since found out that both my brother has and grandmother had lupus anticoagulant, so I feel like my chances are high especially with the recent events.
There were a few days there in the midst of everything that I was regretting my decision and wishing I had never did this do myself, but now that I am past the hump, if it comes back positive than this was all a blessing in disguise. If I had continued to live my life undiagnosed, I might have found out by developing something much worse than a superficial blood clot. If Dr. Ennis didn't take the precaution of putting his patients on blood thinners, things could have been much worse.
Also, I am loving my results so far. I will post some pictures of before and after in my bikini. Still have a lot of swelling near the incision which causes a "pooch", but it is not there in the morning so I know it is only swelling. Also, I am not completely standing straight yet. I am about 75% right now. I can't wait to see how my results look in a few months!!

2nd day post-op

Doing okay today. Went in for my post-op appointment and had my husband take a picture which i will upload. Dr. Ennis said I had about 4 inches of muscle separation (WOW!). Last night I had a hard time being able to pee. It is getting better, but I still feel like I am not emptying out my bladder fully. Dr. Ennis said it was just a reaction to the anesthesia as it slows down everything. I got a lot of compliments today about how well I was moving around. Still feeling very painful, but nothing I can't handle. My drains are hardly draining anything, but i still have to wait until next week to get them out, which stinks cause they are really annoying. He showed my husband how to massage my breasts and we have to do that every hour.
