A year ago I contemplated a BA because I really wanted my boobs too look good in my wedding dress this past March. I pondered the idea but I was nervous they'd be too big or wouldn't drop and my dress would end up looking totally different. I told myself at that time that if I still wanted the BA in a year I would follow through after the wedding. So here I am! My husband is so supportive and he knows I hate the look of my breasts. I'm super active and we workout 4 days a week so I was nervous to even do the procedure but I love my body and I want to love my boobs! My procedure is a week from today - June 9th. Any advice on recovery is greatly appreciated as well as anyone going through their journey at the same time! Also would love to know the best remedy for scar healing from experienced ladies with past BAs!

I had the same concerns that you did. I was a 34A and am the same height and weight as you. I work out almost everyday using weights, hiit, running and kettle-balls so I was really worried about losing muscle tone during recovery. I ended up getting 365cc high silicone. I was worried that it would be too big but I was wrong. They look great in proportion to my body. I am now a 32DD but you'd never guess it. I had my surgery just under a month ago and am back to working out at full strength (minus full push ups) but can do pull ups and chin ups using a band. The recovery was significantly easier than I thought and I was just about 100% after 2 weeks but started doing light leg workouts after a week.
My PS was amazing. He offered an additional pain med that was injected into the muscle during surgery that was slow release for three days. Worth every penny. I have previously had open heart surgery and my incision runs the length of my bra line. He was able to use that scar line for my surgery. I did the same thing for my scar after heart surgery as I am now. Just silicone strips and once I'm done with them I will use vitamin E. my scars are almost invisible. I didn't buy their expensive scar cream. I bounced back pretty quickly and I'm sure you will too don't worry. I hope this helped bc it seems like we are very similar in our approach to BA but it is one of the best things I've done for myself. Good luck!

Thanks so much for this! Did you purchase the silicone strips and Vitamin E cream from like CVS or somewhere like that? So glad to know you're recovery was quick because I'm going to go crazy without being able to work out for a bit.
June 3, 2017
I got the vitamin e cream on amazon and the strips at wal Mart but you can find them at any drug store. The steri strips are big so I cut them down into thin strips. You'll be fine. You can even walk the first week, it just rained every day for me. Good luck!!!

Thank you! Anything else that you purchased before hand that was helpful? I've seen some folks purchasing front zip sports bras. I think my PS will provide a couple but I just want to be prepared!
June 3, 2017
My PS provided one. It it was like a straight jacket. I purchased a recovery bra Called Brilliant Contours on amazon. I purchased a small which was great immediately bc of the swelling but got a little loose so I would get an extra small. Very comfy though to get you through the first three weeks until you can wear sports bras and underwire. Those strips are called silicone strips...not steri strips sorry (steri strips are what they will put over the incisions at surgery). I also got a wedge pillow but other than that I was fine.

Great to know! Thanks so much just found the bra on Amazon and going to order it! Thank again for all your insight!

Hi, I had surgery yesterday, really pleased. I was 34A and had 325 high profile over the muscle and am looking between a DD / full C. I'm not in pain just a feeling of tightness and slight discomfort which they told me lasts about a week. I've got painkillers which are helping. Good Luck, hope this helps, I have wanted mine for ten years and only just plucked up the courage at 48!!!

Thanks so much for the insight! Did you purchase any front zip bras before? Any advice is much appreciated!
June 4, 2017
Hi, I got front fastening bras from Amazon, will attempt to send link. I got 36" but too small and have had to order 38" as bit tight on my incision sight, I'm normally 34". Very comfy and flexible/breathable to sleep in. Good luck!!

A few pre-pics and wish pics - I really love the size I'm at currently, I just hate the shape. I would love more fullness. Pre-op tomorrow! Any tips on helping decide CC is greatly appreciated!

Pre-op and size decided!
jbhoustonJune 7, 2017
Had my pre-op this morning! I didn't take photos of sizers, oops. I decided to go with 350/375 range with my doctors guidance. Sizing is such a huge decision. I'm a B cup according to his measurements and I'll end up with a full D most likely. Anyone else have anxiety about sizing?
Dr. Bower and his staff are AMAZING if you're in the Atlanta area, highly recommend them. They've made me feel so comfortable from the first time I spoke with them. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! Surgery is Friday! Any advice is welcome.

I'm so happy for you....sounds like you had a great appointment and have found a wonderful PS. :)
Definitely having anxiety over sizing here too. I made up my mind....but I second guess myself several times a day. Lol. Gave my Dr a range, based on his original guidance and letting him decide during surgery. Ahhhhh!!! Huge decision.

It's such a hard decision! But I did the same thing - my surgeon has a 350-375cc range to work with! I'm pleased but still second guessing! Getting excited! Only 2 days until surgery!
June 7, 2017
Sizing choice has to be the hardest decision. I was a 34a after 1 child and wanted to be a full C cup. My surgeon chose 2 sizes, 300cc and 325cc and let me think about it and choose on the day. I read lots of posts about people no going big enough and decided on the 325cc. I am pleased I did. I am only 5 days post op but healing fast as I had over the muscle. Also, I read on here that if under the muscle add some cc's so really worth trying lots of sizers and having a chance to think on it. Good Luck
June 7, 2017
This makes me feel better! I've heard lots of people say the same about going under the muscle and choosing a bigger size since you lose CC by doing under muscle. Thanks so much!
June 8, 2017
I was trying to find the post again, one doctor answered in here about adding 25cc extra if you go under to get the same effect as over- will keep looking for it!

I've added the clip answer to my review as a picture as wouldn't let me copy it to a message!!

Hi.did doctor told you that gel polish have to be removed for surgery?I just find out about that.Wish I know earlier.Got my nails done yesterday
June 8, 2017
Hi! No he didn't say! I dont have any polish on my nails though, that's a bummer! They just told me no jewelry, deodorant, makeup or lotion. Antibacterial dial soap to wash wish only - night before and morning of.
June 14, 2017
That's a great point that haven't seen others mention. I read on a list about things to do and not to do before surgery, as well as "what I wished I'd known before my BA" and was surprised how many wrote about getting things done in advance, like their nails! The docs all said be sure no nail polish of any kind and no acrylic/gel nails if possible. I suspect most women lost their manis prior to surgery so you've made a great point!
June 9, 2017
Hello girls.I'm done!Had a tasty breakfast at hotel right after surgery. Not bad at all.and thank you to sweet woman who wrote me privately.
June 11, 2017
Julietteme - how are you feeling today? I just had mine less than 24 hours ago. Wow..lot of pressure on my chest.
June 12, 2017
I'm good.no pain pills needed ..and I had difficult case,my breast was tubular..they had to do a lot of cuts and remove hernation and make orealas smaller.but I don't feel much pain.not even close as bad as I thought it can be.my implants under muscles.the most difficult part is sleeping almost sitting and that I'm not allowed to take shower and lift hands..how yours anesthetia went ? Any nausea?
June 12, 2017
It gets better! Lots of pressure - doctor told me it would feel like an elephant was on my chest for a few days. Just had my tape removed. It gets much easier!!
June 12, 2017
I was trying to avoid too many pain pills, but the 1st 12 hours was a bit rough. Nausea once...and made me throw up. But no nausea since then and have been pretty on top of the pain since then. Now going 6 hours between pain pills, instead of 4 hours...and down to half a dose too. They still make me so sleepy though....I'm ready to be done with the prescription pain pills and just use Tylenol. Bf had to go back to work today...so I'm solo...and didn't feel like I was wanting to stop the heavier pain pills without him here...just in case.
June 13, 2017
I feel sleepy all the time even if I don't take pain pills anymore, just antibiotics and muscle relaxer. My breast feels like 2 stones and have a light burning sensation under strap.
June 13, 2017
Me too. Several naps a day. Our bodies are just using all the energy for healing and there's not much left. How are you doing with eating? Very little is appealing to me right now....and I'm so bloated it looks like I'm 4-5 pregnant. Bf thinks it's cute and funny. Hmmm. Not really agreeing with him on that one.
June 13, 2017
Me too! Horribly bloated!I had a tiny ,23 inches waist and now I'm so round .I fell like im very fat or pregnant! So embarrassing!Couldn't t go to toilet since day of surgery!I eat a lot, very good appetite!eat, sleep repeat! Cant wait till Thursday when i can see them and take off the strap at least for a moment.I think im a little regret that i went so small(200cc). now size seems perfect but I'm afraid after all swelling goes down they will be to small. But anyways dr.Linder did amazing job, i did see my breast next day after surgery, they looked perfect. How is your sleeping? Is your back hurts too sleeping in same position?
June 13, 2017
Ice has been my best friend through all of this! Lots of ice every other 30 minutes. Back is killing me from sleeping elevated, I was a side sleeper. Other than that everything is good. Just now getting my appetite back - didn't have a bowl movement until late last night because I was so bloated. Used a laxative and finally went. The bloating is the worst. That's why I stopped taking the pain meds so quick. I'm still so exhausted too but started back work today. Hasn't been bad. Hope you both feel better!
June 13, 2017
Hi, I haven't tried ice but sounds good so will tomorrow! I was advised to stick pillows underneath my knees which has helped as I am a front sleeper and this sitting up lark is bloody awful, numb bum!! Also, I eat figs, you can get them in keep fresh bags, 4 a day seems to keep things moving!! Wish you a speedy recovery :)
June 13, 2017
I will surely try figs! Ice is great for the swelling. In between my rib cage I have a little swelling so I've been icing since the first day and it has helped tremendously. I have a numb bum as well it's awful! Speedy recovery for you as well!
June 17, 2017
Hi how you doing? That ridge in the middle will go down, mine is less uncomfortable and pulled for about a week. Now I've had stitches out all seems to have improved and gradually day by day I feel better and stronger Happy healing and enjoy your girlies! Keep focusing on the end result :)
June 17, 2017
My stitches are bleeding a little, left breast had a tiny transparent discharge, i wonder if it is normal ( feel a little down, im panic about everything..I have to call my doc on Monday
June 18, 2017
Hi, I'm sure it will be fine - can u call your doctor, did they give you a number? It is scary but try not to panic - this is an emotional journey with lots of ups and downs, painkillers and lack of sleep make it hard to feel normal and you've been through a big op so just give yourself lots of TLC :)
June 19, 2017
I'm better! Ridge has gone down in the middle - I get my stitches out Friday. So excited! I've had a few random pains just off and on but dr said that was normal for the first few months. I can start massaging Friday as well! Can't wait to get the babies to normal. How are you??
June 19, 2017
Im better.Mine stiches most likekely will be removed on June 29...they still were bleeding couple days ago.my case was more difficult,it is not regular BA . tubular shape correction, with some tissue removal and orealas redaction.I still have long time to heal..
Have you had your pre-op yet?
