Having visited Yannis Alexandrides and his wonderful team for many years to have Botox and other minor procedures, I finally decided to take the plunge and have a mini face lift i.e. my neck and lower face. I had started catching sight of myself in the mirror and I did not like what I saw, though it wasn't so bad when I didn't have my glasses on! Yannis gave me a choice of 3 hospitals and I chose the one nearest to my home for convenience - all of 10 minutes away. I must confess to being a little nervous but both Yannis and his 2 nurses were very happy to answer the questions I suddenly thought of after the pre-op consultation. The operation went fantastically. Yannis's anaesthetist was really great and for the first time ever I had a cannula in the back of my hand that didn't hurt. I had the operation on a Thursday and by 7.30am on the following Monday morning I was back working, a little bruised but perfectly able to function normally. I run my own business so I didn't have much choice but it was fine. I had hardly any pain, maybe a little discomfort for the first 24 hours: my face and neck were numb, which I had been told was going to happen. This feels weird but not unpleasant and gradually the feeling comes back. When the bandage came off the morning after the op I was thrilled. Despite the bruising I looked years younger and now 3 months later I could not be happier. I have a new confidence in facing the world. Everyone I have told - actually a lot of people - think I look really great, and the ones I haven't just think I look younger, happier but haven't a clue why! My hairdresser, who works in a salon in Kensington and who I have known for over 20 years, told me she had seen over 100 facelifts and this was definitely the best one she’d ever seen. She has already recommended Yannis to another client. My dentist says the same thing. I now look like I did 10/15 years ago, still very much me, just a younger version. Yannis really has just turned the clock back and that is why I am recommending him so highly. Finally, to have the face lift I had to give up smoking for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after or Yannis would not do the operation because of the risk of the incisions not healing properly. I loved smoking - this was going to be HARD - but I did it. Having given up for 4 weeks I realised I would be stupid to start again. It is now 3.5 months. My family and friends are thrilled I have given up and thank you Yannis, you have probably saved my life!
