3 weeks post op

WORTH IT$3,698
Yesterday was exactly 3 weeks post op for me. I feel fabulous! The incisions have healed, there is no more soreness. I have almost no little twitches of healing anymore, either. The incision scars are beginning to look very good in spite of my interference.

I had a large streak of very irritated skin under my left breast from the surgical tape holding the outer bandages in place. After Dr. Chen removed those at my 1 week post op checkup, I thought it would go away. It did not and my skin under the butterfly tape holding the outer layer of incision together was also irritated, itching and burning. So, instead of waiting for the tape to slowly come off by itself, I removed it a few days later. Fortunately, the incisions were healed enough at that time that I did not cause any serious problems for myself. That was a stupid, bad move on my part.

But, all's well that ends well. Everything looks great. I found by an internet search that applying a thin layer of over the counter cortizone cream helped the irritated skin to heal quickly. I did NOT apply it on the incision area or anywhere close to it. Only on the one patch that had the outer bandage tape on it.

I'm not posting any pictures this time, because I pretty much look the same as I did earlier. I am loving my new old self and am 100% happy that I had the implants removed and not replaced.

My first visit to Dr. Chen's office was for a consultation. I was very nervous about this until I walked through the door. Dr. Chen and his entire staff are kind, comfortable and caring. Dr. Chen was easy to talk to. He answered all of my questions and fully explained everything concerning the procedure I was interested in. By the end of the appointment I was ready to schedule my surgery. The next time I met with Dr. Chen was 2 weeks later at the Sandia Surgery Center. He greeted my husband and myself, and made us feel very much at ease. The surgery to remove my old silicone breast implants went very smoothly and quickly. The staff at Sandia Surgery Center are the greatest! Everyone was friendly and did everything possible to make this a comfortable, relaxing experience while being totally professional in every way. Recovery has been minimal for me. I did not have to take a single pain pill or even Tylenol. Dr. Chen called me in the evening to check on me and ask how I was feeling. I had my post-op appointment yesterday, and had my bandages removed. I am very happy with my results. I feel great. Dr. Chen is a warm, caring person. He has a way of making a person feel like you have been close friends for a long time. He is also a very talented surgeon. I highly recommend Dr. Chen. I would definitely choose him again for any future procedures. If I could give Dr. Chen and his entire staff more than a 5 star review, I would!

Wow, thank you for posting! It's so encouraging to me! :) All the best for life without implants! [RS bleep]
You're welcome! I am praying for you to have a successful surgery free from complications and a quick healing of your body. Is your date still out in April?
Aw you're so kind! Yes I'm April 6th, 5th to you! ;) I can't pass the days fast enough!... I've been reading reports of poisoned ladies and have only got three hours sleep this night altho exhausted!.. :/ silly me!... Someone said the waiting was the hard part and they're right!... ;) Seeing ones like you looking similar to pre op, is so comforting for me!... [RS bleep]
Yes, the waiting is the hardest part of all. The waiting through the early morning of the day of my surgery was really hard. But, once I got to the surgery center, the nurses and everyone there made me feel so peaceful and comfortable, it passed away and all I felt was excitement that I would soon have my old self back.

I had general anesthesia, and the last thing I remembered was being wheeled to the operating room. Then I was waking up and thinking I was still waiting for the surgery, but it was already over!

If you are having general anesthesia, you might want to ask for anti-nausea medication in your I.V. and maybe a patch to put behind your ear the night before also. I have had other surgeries in the past without that help, and the first thing I did upon waking up, was vomit. Not a fun thing to do, especially after an abdominal surgery - in my case, a hysterectomy. Ugh...
Oh you poor thing! :/ Yes I will ask then if it's the sort that can cause nausea... ;) thanks for the tip! Xx
oh, I forgot to ask n yes...vomited! Lol... It all happened so fast, I thought it'd take a while of getting ready etc but as soon as I lay down on the table he injected me saying he was giving me a glass of wine lol.. I remember saying could you please make it a vodka?! Lol then passed out hehe... Oh, so you're the same aye after your day 8 photos?!... You still look beautiful and womanly then! ;) I wonder I'm going to change from now, my day 8 then?!...
Very little change since the day 8 photos. Maybe a little less sad, but my skin doesnt seem to want to bounce back as much at my age. But actually my little boobs look better than the saggy skin on my upper arms! LOL!!! Still, though I am very happy and surprised at what I have left. However, a bit sad about swimsuit appearance now. Guess I'll have to get a new one with a padded bra inside, only for myself. I miss the swimsuit look, but that is all. I am so happy to not have to carry that extra weight around with me and I feel like I can actually stand up straight and tall again - which I do like very much.
Awesome! It's all those things we have taken for granted aye?! Lol standing up straight! ;) xx
Yes! I have yet to try to lay on my stomach. I tried it once a couple weeks ago, on a lounge chair in the sun - but it was a no -go. The surface was too hard and I wasn't healed enough. OUCH! I haven't tried it since. My outside was looking and feeling mostly healed, but the inside of me was not. :-D
Ouuuuch!...ok good tip, thank you! Inside still healing ;)
Thanks for posting your story. It sounds like you are having a great recovery! I had trouble with CC too so I finally had mine out after many years. It looks like you are recovering nicely!
Thanks. Did you have yours out recently? How are you doing on this side of things?
I had mine out three months ago. My results are not so great, flat wide pancakes, but I had very little breast tissue to start with so I can't expect miracles at my age (57) :)
I had mine in for 8 years, and only really enjoyed them for about 6 months. They were larger than I wanted, and I felt more self-conscious WITH them than before I got them. I wish I had never made that choice. I'm much happier with them out, but sad about the price my body had to pay for my moments of foolishness.
I have only just reached the level of inner healing where I can really stretch my arms up high above my head without feeling the twinges of pain. So, please be very careful with yourself. Go at it slowly or you'll be taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

Before and after pictures

I have added some pictures that I thought might be helpful. In order: Original me, then the capsular contraction, the after picture of the removal and repositioning of the implants, and lastly the "new old me". These are the 2 pictures I took yesterday of my 1 week post-op, implant removal with no lift.
I hope this helps.
