Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Hello RealSelf Community! This site has been a...
Hello RealSelf Community! This site has been a lifesaver for me. I normally don't take the time to post long bios and put myself out there but I was so moved by all of the patients on here fearlessly helping other women, like myself, make these huge decisions. No pun intended. Haha! But really, it's helped so much to have real life reviews. So thank you to all of YOU! Well, I have thought about having a BA since I was a teen. I had a few consultations when I was in my 20's but it just never happened. I'm actually glad though, because I feel so much better about my decision now. I'm 99.9% finished with having children (you never know what could surprise us, but we're not trying), I have a loving husband that is supporting me 100% and I'm ready! So here we go! After a couple more consultations, I have decided on Dr. Loufty in ABQ, NM. I actually suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) so my health was a concern for me. He was very thorough with making sure I was okay to proceed. He wouldn't even schedule until he spoke with my RA doctor and got the "ok" from her. That really put me at ease that he took the time to do that, even though it delayed me a bit, but better safe than sorry.
It's been a journey so far. I first broke the new to my sister & bff, they were both so supportive and said "you've always talked about it, we're happy for you!" Now they want to have it done too. LOL!
Next, I felt it was so important to talk to my teenage daughter about it. She's 16 years old and I thought it was important for her to know how I felt and to NOT damage her thoughts on positive body image. It was a little scary going into it, not going to lie, but she was actually very understanding. The conversation ended with, "it's your body Mom, you do you" with a smile. LOL, teens! But that was one off of my plate.
The next one was a hard one! My parents! Isn't it strange that no matter your age, the butterflies are real when having to talk to your parents. Haha! Especially my Dad, about my breasts. Kill me now. LOL! J/K He only had my sister and I, so he was always very understanding with "girl things" Probably even more understanding than my mom, which is hard to believe. LOL! But I felt like it was important and respectful that I tell them beforehand. Heaven forbid something terrible happen and there they are, in the dark. No one will EVER love us as much as our parents. As a parent myself, I get it. I know, some people aren't blessed with great parents but think of the closest person to you that loves you unconditionally, may not even be blood related, it's that same feeling. They just want what's best for you. So, I took a deep breath and went to their house to tell them. I had no idea how it was going to go so it was a shot in the dark. To my surprise, it went so well! I was actually brought to tears with their words of encouragement. After all of the questions, the final words were, "You know you always have our support." And from Dad, "if anyone has anything to say, tell them to come talk to me and I'll shut it down" Awww, melt my heart. I'm in tears just writing this. I'm so glad I told them. <3
Next is our 9 year old son, I am on the fence about this. I actually don't know what to say to him or if I even should. So if anyone has any suggestions on this, I'd love to hear them.
So today I have my final Pre-Op before the big day. I'm so excited and a bit nervous. I have to decide on the size and I still have tons of questions. I have decided to go with Silicon and he wants to go under the muscle. In the first consultation, we looked at Moderate plus profile to get a little bit more natural shape, but nothing is final yet. I'll keep you all posted. I have a feeling, this diary is going to be very helpful in my journey.
Good luck to all of you that are on my same path or similar. It puts me at ease that I have this community to share with.
Attached are some wish pics for shape that I like.
