A little about me. I'm 24 years old and have ice pick and box scars due to acne.
The struggle. It’s exhausting. I’m always aware of how the light hits my face and whether it’s highlighting the crater-like skin. Is it too humid, causing my foundation to collect like specks in the pits and pores of my face? Avoiding reflections of myself, such as the tinted windows of car on an overcast day, to avoid the reminder of the scarred mess that I am.
What I’ve tried. In the last 4 years, I’ve had several microdermabrasions, dermapen, and the new Vivace treatment. These procedures improved my skin tone but there was little improvement in my scarring. I’m tired of getting my hopes up and wasting my money on treatments with minimal effects. I’ve decided to try the CO2 laser treatment… wish me luck ????

Was this an ablative or non-ablative laser?

Same age and problem as you! Looking into getting it done - results look great! Happy for you :)

I was about to ask the same question.
Fractional co2? or fully ablative?

Thanks for sharing. How is your face going now? Is it very itchy?

How's it going? I have the same skin issues as you've described. Have spent tons of money trying to fix, with no results. Considering the Co2 this fall, but am worried about the itching, swelling, pain... but honestly, if it helps, the pain is worth the gain! I just don't want to pay a ton of money and have no results or become worse! How's your experience??

Acne scars are so tough and so frustrating!
The procedure was only slightly painful in certain areas of my face (near eyes and jawline) but less painful than microdermabrasion. The Dr. did facial nerve blocks as well as a topical anesthetic and some oral pain meds, all of which I'm super grateful for.
The swelling was present for the first 24-36 hours. They said it's okay to take an anti-inflammatory like Tylenol or Ibuprofen, but otherwise I wasn't in any pain at all. The itching began 4th day as the old skin began to peel and was really itchy on Day 5. Anti-histamine pills like Zyrtec really help. I kept some cue-tips dipped in Aquaphor at bedside for really bad itches. I didnt step out of my house for 5 days.
I'm now on day 7 and the itching is pretty much gone :) My skin is still pretty pink/red but Colorescience makeup really helps in case I have to go out.
My skin is still healing and I can see some of the old acne scars, it's not perfect which I didn't expect it to be, but it's better than before.
I think this is the best procedure available for improvement scars, especially when you've tried just about everything else.
It's a tough recovery process but it's well worth it!

My skin is dark and itchy but not painful. The skin texture feels rough and dry after I wash it. I'm still applying Aquaphor.
