My implants are saline, under the muscle... done...

My implants are saline, under the muscle... done in 2000 during a rough time in my life. I was just going through a divorce and was so afraid to face the dating world again 'flat-chested'. I was always on the fence about it after that. I enjoyed looking more feminine in clothes, but part of me dreaded the idea of something fake being in my body like that. Flash forward 14 years... Still just as active and fit and even more weird to have big boobs on my athletic body. In the past 6 or 7 years, I picked up ballet and have been surrounded by a community of athletic, beautiful, and yes... small breasted women. It's a shame I couldn't love my body back then... on the other hand, I know what it is like to have boobs now. All things considered, I can't say I have too many regrets EXCEPT... Do the math! I 'rented' these boobs for somewhere between $500 to $1000/year considering the cost of implant and explant. Ugh. Over the past few years, my boobs have strangely grown. I've got C size bras that I've grown out of... am now a D or DD... and otherwise haven't gained any weight at all. Very strange. So I'm just not happy being this large.
All of the great women here have given me confidence that things will be alright... no matter what I look like afterwards... and I can look forward to a life free from worry about these things. I can wear my little running bras in the summer, and stick my chest out proudly while I dance. I really can't wait to be small again...

FYI.. I'm 49 years old and a non-smoker. I'm 5-6" and weigh about 115-120 lbs. A healthy weight. What you see are muscles :) I'm definitely not skin and bones!!

We have similar stories except I implanted after kids. I didn't realize I was going to take up karate and tennis, neither of which do well with big breasts clinging on! Having mine removed was the best thing ever!!! I am ten weeks post explant and I just played tennis for the first time today and it felt great!!! Good luck to you!!! :)

I bet it felt great! 10 weeks! Were you able to do other things before then? My doctor tells me I need to do absolutely nothing for a full week... and can start walking after that. I will probably wait at least a month, maybe two, before I resume running again. That will be the hardest part for me.

:) I had some silicon leak into my armpit and so they removed that (another incision in the armpit) and I also had the capsules taken out so I think it was just extensive and required me to sit tight for a while. I was walking and all that after a couple of weeks. its wierd but without the implants I jiggle.......who knew???? I was soooo nervous to run too!!! Especially with the jiggling ;) I played tennis for two hours today and it feels like no time has gone by! I think patience is the hardest thing ;()

I love your "renting" analogy. Such an interesting way to look at it. Also remember that it taught you an important life lesson, and that is priceless. I swear that women's boobs grow as they get older. At least a little. Maybe that is what has happened with you. Less than a month to go! Please keep us updated.

Thank you Angiemcc. I wish there was a place like Realself back when I was considering this. At the time I was considering a BA, I wasn't around a lot of athletic women. In high school, I was a cheerleader(!!). Back then, the emphasis was more on our bodies looking good and less what we could do with them and staying healthy.

I was just thinking this the other day. Oh course, now I'm pissed I spent the money & will have to spend more to have them out, but I figure it averages to a couple of bucks a day & I would have wasted that anyway. On the other hand, $6k+ into my retirement or for a nice vacation would have been nice. Live and learn!! I'm making an appt ASAP to see about getting mine out. Thanks ladies for all the support!

:) Yes, live and learn! Good luck with your appointments. I talked to three different doctors before deciding on mine. In my opinion, how they take them out is almost as important as how they put them in... so take your time finding a good one!
