I am scheduled to have my TT on 6/17 after a lifetime of wanting to do this for myself. I was scheduled to have it on 5/30 but due to an unexpected surgery I had to postpone. Tuesday I received clearance from my DR that I was in perfect condition so I am going ahead as scheduled. Interestingly my GYN asked me if I was doing it for myself and I assured him that I was indeed doing it for myself.

I am so thrilled to finally be doing this. I have lost a fair amount of weight in the last year and half but I was never able to do anything about that area of my abdomen no matter how I exercised. The skin was so severly damaged after my daughter was born that no amount of crunches or diet could ever make it retract. She is an adult now so I think I have waited long enough. So just about 2 wks and counting.

I have learned much from reading all your posts. Thank goodness I found such valuable information.

I wanted to post and let you all know that my day was yesterday for my surgery and I came home shortly thereafter. I am thrilled that the day came and went and I stayed busy till the very last because the anxiety level was building and I didn't want to have to think about it. At the last minute the Dr's ofc. called and asked me to be at the hospital at 530am instead of 630am so it was one less hour to think about it. I am very sore but thrilled that it is over. My Dr. is a great, kind and patient man who answered all the questions that I had up till the last minute. The hospital staff was exceptional and I received the best of care so now I am on the mend and just going to baby myself for the next 2 weeks or so till I go back to see him. I am happy, happy, happy since I have waited a lifetime to do this for myself. I appreciate all the great information that I have gleaned from this site. I will try to keep up with my post operative care and post more about my journey. So far the only thing really bothering me is that I don't have lots of padding on my hips and the binder is uncomfortable when I try to stand. Any suggestions that any of you have will be greatly appreciated for my post operative care. I am doing everything that the hospital recommended and taking my medication round the clock. I thought sleeping sitting up last night would be difficult but I was so exhausted that I slept right through the night. I expect another night like that tonight as I am having a hard time staying awake at times today with the meds I am taking. Since I had a full abdominoplasty with lipectomy that has added to my soreness and the uncomfortable feeling. In other words I have one sore tummy. Thank you all for listening. After have a child that weighed 10lb 9oz my stomach was never that same no matter what I did nor how much weight that I lost. She is an adult now but I say better late then never. So never give up as all of your stories inspired me to take the plunge and do it for myself. Thank you, thank you.

Yesterday was my first visit to see my Dr. It was wonderful to see the difference already when my bandages came off the morning of my appt. I think the most relief came from removing the binder but as my Dr. told me it is better to have it on to keep the swelling down above the incision. I am still sleeping propped up but since I had my stomach muscles repaired as this seems to be the most comfortable position till I have my drains removed. It feels wonderful to shower and see the remarkable difference even now.

Hi,
Would you mind sharing your recovery photos and doc info? My family lives in the Fairhope, AL area and I visit all the time. Wondering if I should look there for a doc if he comes highly recommended. Thanks!

I am sorry that I was not able to reply to you when you first wrote me. Were you ever able to locate a doctor as my Dr. relocated but is back in the area so I would be happy to refer him to you. Let me know if I can answer any questions or help you in any way. Debra
