After multiple pregnancies followed by a lifestyle...

After multiple pregnancies followed by a lifestyle change and 50 pound weight loss, I was unhappy with sagging skin and physical discomfort during exercise. I made a consultation with my surgeon and learned I had a 4 inch abdominal separation which no amount of exercise would correct. I decided to treat myself to a makeover. I am so happy I did!! The initial recovery was brutal; the first week was hellish. I would recommend building up your lower body strength leading up to your procedure. Having a strong lower body was immensely helpful for moving around post-op. I was on RX pain meds for the first week and then was able to switch over to regular ibuprofen with an occasional need for the stronger stuff if I overexerted. I went back to my physical job 3 weeks after surgery. It was really rough the first couple of days and I had to have co-workers help with the heavy lifting, but I was back in full swing after about a week. I am absolutely ecstatic with my results. My incision ended up being higher than I think most women would like, but I'm all about vintage high waisted lingerie and high rise jeans to accentuate my curves, so I'm not bothered. I would rather have a scar than extra skin! I'd like to add that as a woman, I fully support women in their decisions about their own bodies. If you love your stretch marks and feel empowered thinking about your body housing the little humans you created, that's awesome! I never want another woman to feel that my unhappiness reflected by my choices of my own body have anything to do with the way I perceive her. I think you are all beautiful and strong and your bodies have done amazing things, and if you want to love it as it is or change it to your liking it's your choice. Just make sure you're doing it for you, ladies! #womenempoweringwomen

I loved Dr. P from the beginning. Very realistic about what could be achieved, confident of himself but with just enough awkwardness to make him charming and unintimidating. I love that he works directly with the hospital and he's doing amazing new procedures in the area (Robotic Assistance. How cool is that?!) The staff were all friendly and easy to talk to. As a younger patient I was concerned that I may not be taken seriously inquiring about an expensive procedure, but I felt respected and all of my questions and concerns were answered. I liked the results so much that I've decided to have another procedure done by him as well. *That decision was completely my own and I never felt bullied into a procedure by Dr. Pedersen or his staff - the procedures I made consultations for were the only things discussed at those times.* I would say the only thing that other people might not like is that he didn't spend a lot of time discussing every little detail about things. I got the condensed version; there was no drawing lines to show where incisions would be, etc. Personally I didn't mind, I trusted his judgement and felt that as the surgeon he knew exactly what needed to be done for my case. I think had it bothered me I could have asked for more details and to further discuss the procedure and there would not have been any issue at all, but I felt confident enough that he knew what he was doing. ;)
