Not advised to stop Subutex & was in excruciating pain the entire procedure

Nurse Fails to Do Her Job

Dr. Bhatt’s nurse Tia Willams failed to review my medical intake form that listed my Prescription medications. I take Subutex & was not advised to stop it prior to the procedure, nor was it addressed at all! As a result, I was in excruciating pain the entire procedure because the pain injections did not work whatsoever. I have never been in more pain than that in my life and I’ve broke several bones, had dental implants, and was in labor for 18 hours, followed by a c-section- this was worse! What’s bad about this situation is the fact that it was preventable.
I’ve spoke to several surgeons after the fact to confirm this, in addition to my pain management specialist, all whom confirmed the same.
I’m giving him the opportunity to correct this, admit that it was an error, reimburse me for the procedure, and show me how they plan to prevent this from ever occurring again. This was his nurses fault, not his, but it’s unfortunate because Airsculpt is stating that it’s his fault, when I don’t believe that to be the case. I will update this on Thursday, after I speak with him.

Malpractice? You tell me…

Both the surgeon and the nurse failed to even speak to me about the risks/concerns associated with the fact that I take a medication that would block the effects of two tramadol injections that were given the day of the procedure. I had no idea what I would receive and/or was not able to plan for any of this, for no one said a word about potential issues/concerns. They failed to contact my pain specialist or any pain specialist for that matter.

You don’t just give a patient two injections of tramadol, if you know they are taking a medication that will block it from working. You have a recorded conversation and allow the patient to decide if they want to have Liposuction while awake, without any pain medication. Had this occurred, I would have opted to go down another path. This was an epic fail. Painful and my results are not ideal for 10K.

Had I not been on that prescription medication, sure, this procedure may have been tolerable, but it’s NOT okay to not warn me or advise that this will occur prior. I selected elite because they advertise “no opioid pain medication needed” yet that’s “after” the procedure. They don’t advertise or advise what they will give you before the procedure.
