Up A Cup
$16,000
I very excited for my procedure, airsculpt and up a cup. After having children and breastfeeding following by weight loss I had lost all the volume in my once larger breast. I was not interested in implants as I wanted a more natural look, and as a single mom I could afford the down time of implants.
I had a virtual consult, which ended up being with someone I assumed to be a nurse, not a surgeon. She took photos during the consult and went through a script about the procedure. She had a surgeon then review the photos and emailed me an estimate.
I secured the financing and made an appointment assuming I would be able to meet with my surgeon and discuss the plan before hand.
I made the 4 hour drive for the procedure day. He was very pleasant and friendly, confident. He did say I have grade 2 breast ptosis that the fat transfer wouldn't make worse, and I had plenty of room for fat grafts. Did his markings and was done. He did not ask my goals, did not make any other recommendations for my breast. I assumed a board certified plastic would only proceed with a procedure when appropriate.
During the procedure the cannula for the fat transfer stopped working. I had half of one breast filled at this point with my fat. He did some trouble shooting and admitted he wasn’t familiar with this cannula or collection system (say what!?!) and eventually had to have another surgeon come in and help.
Fast forward to my one week follow up. my breast are significantly hard swollen, but only in the upper pole, my lower pole and nipple dropped below the fat grafts. It looked like I had implants put in my upper chest 20 years ago and my breast were now sagging around them. I also had signifant sale purple bruising all over my abd with lumps and divits everywhere from I assumed swelling.
The surgeon came in saw my breast and laid me back on the table and said I am going to do something we told you not to do. He proceeded to manually try and push the fat grafts down into my breast from my chest. And on the right tried to push some fat that just placed by my armpit back down into the breast as well. He told me don’t worry it will come down on its own. Then proceeded to tell me he was leaving airsculpt and another surgeon would take over if I needed revision!
A few days later I developed yellowish discoloration along where he had manipulated the fat. I text him photos and was told is just bruising. Then a few weeks later, still very painfully swollen and hard, I developed redness in the area he manipulated. I called the office and was able to send photos via text line. A surgeon did review them same day and call in some antibiotics, however I continued to develop intermittent redness in that breast.
At 4 weeks out I still had hard lumps and divits in my abdomen (the sight of lipo). I called the office and a nurse called me back. How we she was extremely condescending and did not take my concerns, seriously. In fact, this nurse told me in quotes “ Now, honey, remember we talked about this…” Mind you I’ve never met this nurse never had talked to her before, she was not my nurse when I was there. She’s proceeded to go on to talk about her own procedures.
At my 3 month follow I had the same nurse that I had the day of the procedure who was extremely kind, listened to my concerns, and acknowledge them, never tried to talk around them or make excuses for them. I met with a new surgeon this day as well and I was quite tearful. Mind you I had paid $16,000 to feel more confident and I was left with a lumpy disfigured breasts and abdomen.
He told me what I needed was actually a breast lift and adding fat can weigh them down more. I appreciated the honesty However, it made me feel like the first surgeon should’ve mentioned this but didn't care about outcomes ans wanted to get the profits. Before leaving the 5 min follow up with me the surgeon told me to “Relax” the fat would migrate down and walked out after less than 5 min.
I have done quite a bit of online research and once fat is transferred to an area, it does not migrate, including from the upper pole to the lower pole of the breast. My lumpy fat grafts will not be moving and I have gone with none of my concerns addressed.
The office manager did call but not until six days Later. She Did not ask me to follow up about my concerns, but mostly just They were there if they needed me. at this point, I have do not feel like they are there if I needed them.
I’m only giving them two star because of the one nurse I had that was good and the receptionist.
