Having Surgery Tomorrow

Something I wanted to do for a long time, but didn’t think I really had the heart to do it. I finally set my date to get my nose done with Dr. Shah on 7/3/2020. My appearance is something that has always mattered to me ever since I could remember. My nose is the first thing people look at when they look at me in the face. I could feel them staring at how wide and fat it is. I used to get teased so bad sometimes and even though I didn’t used to say anything, it really used to hurt my feelings. It used to really mess with me emotionally because I always felt like people were lying to me when they called me pretty. I’m not doing this for anybody else but myself. I just want to feel confident about my looks. I will update with how my surgery went for those who are wondering about African American Rhinoplasty since I know how hard it is to find information about him and recent pictures of African American Rhinoplasty. Tomorrow is my big day :) wish me luck y’all.
P.S. I will ask if he can take before and after pics of my nose before and right after surgery. My price will most likely be different from yours bc my consultation was a while ago. I was told that they have went up in prices. Mine was locked in though.

So my splint/cast fell off only 3 days after surgery. I have not received my photos of what the nose looked like right after surgery. I’m trying to contact someone, but I don’t have an alternate number to call at this time and the office is closed. I’m really hoping it won’t ruin my results. I got the chance to see what the nose looked like when the splint fell off. It honestly looks the same to me. It’s only been 3 days so I’ll wait. I really hope someone calls me back soon. A little stressed about it I don’t have any instructions about what to do if this happens.

I have pictures

They’re not the ones he took but here’s my before picture that I took and the one I took when my splint/cast fell off. I see a small difference. I ended up going on YouTube and finding out how to tape my nose so I could sleep without worrying about my splint falling off. Can’t wait to see how much the swelling goes down.

My cast ended up falling off early too. It looked so swollen but by the time I met with my physician to get if 'officially' removed, my nose swelling had reduced so much. It was only a 3-4 day difference. We just have to play the waiting game. It looks great so far!

Thank you for you feedback. That brings me a lot of peace. I’m hoping for the best, and congrats on your new nose girl.

Not much difference

Dec 3rd will make 5 months and when I smile my nose looks the same as it did before surgery. My tip and bridge is still bulbous. My nostrils are smaller, but that’s it. I was going for a natural look, but I would think by now my bridge would look different and my tip wouldn’t be so fat. I’m not satisfied at this point.

Wow. Hopefully it’s still swollen.

I am in the same sinking ship as you are. My nose is a little bigger than yours but with the same shape. Kinda. My nostrils were narrowed probably as much as they can be, but my tip remains bulbous bulky and wide. I know thicker skin makes this a challenge and we stay swollen longer. But after 3 months or so our nose will not change much more if at all. I think at when surgeons fail to make our tip smaller, they use the “swelling” as an excuse. I see noses look good 2 weeks post op, and for my primary surgery my nose didn’t look any differently at 11 months as it did 2 months. So ya i don’t believe we will wake up one morning and see an entirely narrowed and better looking nose. What u see now is what u get. I had two tip plasty operations by the same surgeon, and i am now seeking a 2nd revision but this time by a different and hopefully more skilled surgeon who can give me something at least similar to what i am hoping for. Best of luck to you i hope things work out..

Which one is the before and after picture?

The first one is before and the second is after

Just be patient. I'm 5 months post op and my nose is still really swollen. It can take a year and sometimes longer for thicker skinned noses to completely shrink. I had to learn this lesson the hard way. I'm constantly looking at my nose. I still hate the way it looks In pictures but it looks much better in person. Because the tip I so swollen, it's going to look bigger in pictures than IRL. I know someone that didn't start seeing results for 8 months. So we still have time. Just try not to think about it. One day you'll look up, and your nose will be smaller.
