Took the plunge

So I’m about 2 weeks post op now, so I’d thought I’d share my journey and results with everyone.
I had been wanting a nose job for years now and finally took the plunge! I decided to travel down to Miami and get my rhino done with Dr.Ghersi. The patient coordinator there, Keidy was super helpful prior to my visit and answered all the questions I had. We were in contact almost every day lol.
Shes really sweet in person too. Ghersi and all of his staff were really nice.
The day of surgery, I kinda started to get cold feet. It all seemed so scary and surreal. Maybe it was worse because I was there by myself .. so I think I may bring someone next time if I get another procedure.
But once the anesthesigist put the needle in my arm, I was out and next thing I know I was waking up with a splitting headache. Most of the experiences I read from other people describe no pain for nose jobs, but I felt like I got hit by a truck after. But after taking the pain pills and taking a nap, I felt back to normal. Didn’t even need the nurse they made me get. Lol
I had some moderate bruising around my eyes that took about 2 weeks to fully resolve, and some light swelling on my eyes and face that went away after like 3-4 days. I’d say my first and second day were the worst for me in terms of discomfort and appearance.
Now when I initially got my cast off, I was in SHOCK when I saw myself. I looked sooooo different. I wish more people talked about the psychological aspects of rhinoplasty, cuz a girl was going through it! It’s weird to see yourself with a different face lol.
Honestly, I really did not like the way my nose looked at first. It was so straight and narrow. But I think it may have just been from the cast pressing on it and the swelling distorting it a bit. But after a while it started to grow on me. I think I just wasn’t used to seeing myself like that.
My main concern right now is the tip being too long/low and if my bridge is gonna be really thin when the swelling goes down because it has swelled up since getting the cast off. I kinda flip through periods of liking it, and being kinda iffy on it everyday. But overall I feel it’s an improvement.
Today, being 15 days post, it’s looking a lot better and I think I’ll have a nice result once all the swelling goes down. I know I’m still really early in my healing process and my nose is gonna change a lot over the upcoming year. I’d say I’m about 85% satisfied with it right now, and hope the other 15% comes with time.
Also, NO ONE has noticed my nose job and it is the craziest thing to me lmao. I didn’t tell many ppl about it, but was sure everyone would notice when I got back cuz it seems like such a drastic change to me. But I haven’t even gotten so much as a funny look or “you look different, did you change your hair/lose weight?” Type comments. Not even from my family.
But it has swelled up a lot, so I guess it doesn’t look to far from my natural nose. Which is great, cuz I want to stay lowkey about it.
Can’t wait to see how things progress. Now just Impatiently waiting for this swelling to go down so I can see my final result.

3 weeks
Lionessa15October 2, 2018
Officially 3 weeks today and things are going well. My breathing is a lot better than the first week, but it’s still not 100% back to normal. I think the remaining stuffiness should be gone within the next 2 weeks, hopefully.
Visually, my nose hasn’t changed much from the second week, it’s still super swollen and I’m just impatiently waiting for it to go down. Especially my tip. It’s crazy, cuz when I got my cast off I thought it looked too thin before it ballooned up in the following days/weeks, but I would love to have my nose like that now LOL. I feel like I still have my old nose cuz it doesn’t look that different with all the swelling. The swelling is also uneven and it distorts my nose a little bit. Especially in flash pics. I was looking like squidward for about a week, but it’s gotten a little better.
One thing I’ve noticed too, is that my nose is itchy AF around my scars and incisions. I don’t think it’s infected, just apart of the healing, but it’s really annoying. After I clean it, I’ve been putting Shea butter and jbco on it to help with scars and keep it moisturized. So I hope that helps.
Also don’t have too much mucus/drainage in there anymore. It seems to be drying up and getting back to normal and I don’t have to use my nasal spray as often.
The internal healing was the most prominent this past week, but hopefully I’ll be able to see more physical changes in the upcoming week. I’ll post another progress pic at 1 month. ?

4 weeks: Loving my new nose (:
Lionessa15October 11, 2018
So it’s been about 4 weeks since my surgery and I’m loving my results so far. I swear my nose looks better and better everyday. Ghersi did a great job! It looks very natural. No jackson nose, thank god. Lol. I feel like it really fits with and balances out my features. I’ve noticed my lips an cheekbones have been looking especially good lately.. lol. Like my nose job let my other nice features stand out more.
The swelling has gone down a lot, and it’s mostly on the bottom 1/3 of my nose, around my tip. And it’s still pretty uneven.. it’s worse on my left side. But you can’t tell much in person.
It’s also been feeling more normal lately, like a real untouched nose. It’s softening up and stabilizing. Before it felt really hard, numb and weird feeling.
My breathing is kind of in-and-out. One minute it’s fine, then later it will stuff up and I have to breathe through my mouth. I can’t wait until I can breathe normally 100%. Kinda annoying.
The one concern I have with my nose now is that my nostrils seem to flare and pull up a little bit too much when I smile now, and it makes my columella area look a bit too long and prominent. I wonder if Botox will be able to fix that. But it’s a minor issue.
Gonna try and travel down to Miami really quick to o a follow up, and hopefully get a steroid shot to help bring the swelling down some more. Will also likely be getting my bbl done with Ghersi in the near future as well.
Overall I am very happy with my nose and will post another update at the 2 month mark!
