Why I took the plunge! I'm the youngest in my...

Why I took the plunge! I'm the youngest in my family and one of my brother's would torment me about everything including my double-chin. He brought me to tears and I would often hide out in my room because I felt so self-conscious. He was very cruel. Real and imagined, I had a sizeable double-chin even when my body fat was so low that I didn't have a period for two years.

Recently, someone else brought up my double-chin and i thought...that's it! I really want to rid myself of what had become an emotional scar. So I did my homework. I came here to learn about your stories. I poured through before-and-after photos. I researched doctors and set up consultations and finally settled on Dr. Phil Young who is located in Bellevue, WA.

With tons of options in the Seattle-area, why Dr. Young? I was impressed with many factors, including his credentials (he's double-board certified specializing in face/neck), his depth of experience; the complexity of the procedures he's done; his attention to details about ME; his professionalism; his staff's professionalism. All of this garnered a level of trust with Dr. Young that made me say YES! I got this and I believe he does too!

In the weeks leading up to the procedure I had another appointment with his nurse and with Dr. Young. I also called several times because I ended up with more questions and because my worrying mind needed an infinite amount of reassurance. I got on my own nerves, but D. Young and his staff couldn't have been more kind, knowledgeable and patient.

The day before the surgery, I got in my last hard workout, knowing I wouldn't be able to for weeks later. I actually teared up, thinking about how small my own brother made me feel - in a way, I felt like I was extricating myself from a past I didn't like.

The day-of was nerve-racking! Again, everyone was so nice-this goes a long way in my view!

It took a lot of injections to numb me up properly for both chin and the lateral area under my jaw line. It wasn't nearly as painful as a numbing injection at the dentist's office. They used this sort of message/vibration machine which was most helpful. But my oh my, the lipo part was the most bizarre and really very uncomfortable experience I've had. You can feel the sensation of something sort of crawling and poking and "scraping" under your skin and it feels like right on the bone. Like you're a turkey being carved up for Thanksgiving with the baster and the electric knife at full throttle. None of it's really painful, it's just really unsettling. When all was said and done, I sat up and looked in the mirror-no more double-chin!!!

That was Monday. Yesterday, I came in to see Dr. Young and he showed me how to create special compression dressings to help speed recovery and optimize the results. I really appreciated his dedication to go above and beyond and it really made a difference. It's now Thursday and I viewed my profile in the mirror. The difference is just night and day! How I feel is night and day. I'm not an overly vain person. I'm 47 and not exactly a super model. This just felt strangely cathartic for me.

I hope that my story helps others! I'm making my before/after pictures available to Dr. Young and may muster up enough courage to publish them here if anyone really wants to see them.

Thanks!

It's been exceptionally well across all criterion (see story for details). And I'm very high maintenance according to my husband and every man I've ever dated.
