Almost 6 months ago I had Rhinoplasty. It was partly for a deviated septum and partly because I was born with one UGLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY nose!

Ok so I made the big decision, paid the money and had the op....

The first night was hell on earth. I vomited up blood several times and had blood running from my nose. I had been told during my consultation that vomiting blood is very rare... Once I had thrown up all the blood I must have swallowed I actually began to feel better.....

From the next day onwards I stopped all the heavy medication and just used normal panadol which seemed to work just fine...

I really didn't bruise much at all.... I believe this was due to the fact that I took Arnica Montana tablets and 1000mg of vitamin c daily for 1 week prior and 1 week after my surgery. As stated in most other journals the bruising got worse 1-4 days then improved dramatically which I was very thankful for...

The actual recovery minus the first night was relatively painless and easy.... by the end of the first week the thing that was actually the worst about my recovery was not being able to scratch underneath my splint.... it was sooooooooo itchy!

A couple of weeks after my recovery I went into see Dr Edwards as I had some concerns.... He was in the room with me for 3.5 minutes. I felt so brushed off like now he had my money he didn't care and that by coming in i was just wasting his time...

NOT impressed with the nurses at the clinic or the surgeons aftercare. appalling.

My new nose.... well it's certainly better than it was originally but considering how much money I paid Its not perfect. I am leaning towards having a revision rhinoplasty done in another 6 months time but am unsure as to whether I return to my surgeon and the horrible day surgery.

Overall i would say it is worth it but be careful who you choose for it and where they operate... i would never knowingly choose to undergo surgery in a day surgery clinic again..... go to a hospital.... get proper aftercare!!!

Horrible day surgery experience and aftercare by both surgeon and nurses was appalling. As soon as Dr Edwards had my money I became just another number. He was never rude or anything but simply felt so rushed and brushed off. Before surgery the nurses who prepped me by putting the heating blanket on top of me were so busy bitching about another nurse that they weren't watching what they were doing and smacked me in the face with the blanket. Immediately after surgery the nurses were giving me the "after care" instructions (reading from a pamphlet) and when I asked her something she snapped at me "I'll get to that later"..... why not just answer it when I asked and skip over it later or just say it politely.
