WORTH IT$10,000

Almost 6 months ago I had Rhinoplasty. It was partly for a deviated septum and partly because I was born with one UGLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY nose!

Ok so I made the big decision, paid the money and had the op....

The first night was hell on earth. I vomited up blood several times and had blood running from my nose. I had been told during my consultation that vomiting blood is very rare... Once I had thrown up all the blood I must have swallowed I actually began to feel better.....

From the next day onwards I stopped all the heavy medication and just used normal panadol which seemed to work just fine...

I really didn't bruise much at all.... I believe this was due to the fact that I took Arnica Montana tablets and 1000mg of vitamin c daily for 1 week prior and 1 week after my surgery. As stated in most other journals the bruising got worse 1-4 days then improved dramatically which I was very thankful for...

The actual recovery minus the first night was relatively painless and easy.... by the end of the first week the thing that was actually the worst about my recovery was not being able to scratch underneath my splint.... it was sooooooooo itchy!

A couple of weeks after my recovery I went into see Dr Edwards as I had some concerns.... He was in the room with me for 3.5 minutes. I felt so brushed off like now he had my money he didn't care and that by coming in i was just wasting his time...

NOT impressed with the nurses at the clinic or the surgeons aftercare. appalling.

My new nose.... well it's certainly better than it was originally but considering how much money I paid Its not perfect. I am leaning towards having a revision rhinoplasty done in another 6 months time but am unsure as to whether I return to my surgeon and the horrible day surgery.

Overall i would say it is worth it but be careful who you choose for it and where they operate... i would never knowingly choose to undergo surgery in a day surgery clinic again..... go to a hospital.... get proper aftercare!!!

Thanks for sharing with us here. Sorry you're not loving your results. Any interest in sharing photos so we can have a peek? You can blur out your eyes if that makes you more comfortable.

I absolutely detest it when I go for some sort of medical procedure and people are gossiping around me. Very unprofessional.

Please keep us posted and let us know if you decide to go for a revision.

I also had my rhinoplasty done by a surgeon at the APSA, but opted to get it done in a hospital rather than the day surgery there. Getting my cast off today, so hopefully my surgeon doesn't act in a similar way to yours did..I'm nervous now!

HI im a 28yo female from Adelaide. i just had my cast removed yesterday (i am day 8) post rhinoplasty and genioplasty (chin advancement). I had mine done by Prof David David at Memorial hospital. i understand that my nose and chin are still swollen (especially my nose) and im usually a very calm and logical person. But im still quite anxious that i dont look like 'me' anymore. can either of you please let me know what your experiences were once the cast was taken off and how long before my face resembles some normality again?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lola, sorry for the delayed response. I hope you're feeling a bit better about it! I'm more than 3 months post op and I still have days where my nose is more swollen than others. I was surprised when I got my cast off that most people who didn't know about the surgery didn't even notice. Try not to scrutinise it too much because it probably isn't anywhere near what the final product will be at such an early stage :)

I had the exact same experience. He isnt passionate about what he does at all, I wish i never saw him. He did a revision and its still terrible, Im so upset. Seeing Dr Cooter for another revision
