Thank you Retin-A!

I'm so thankful for this journey and that the first doctor I talked to gave me Retin A. I would advice anyone dealing with acne to start with that first and add on any oral meds that may be necessary. I am still using Retin-A to this day (1 year later). As I wrote in previous posts, I took Retin A VERY slow. I'm glad that I did because my sensitive skin was able to handle it and tolerates it well now. I moved up from 0.025% to 0.05% a month ago and am taking it slow with this as well. If I'm peeling after washing my face at night, I go for Cerave's PM moisturizer. If not, I do Retin-A. I am dealing with saucer (shallow rolling scars) now, but I've seen great improvement in my skin from doing microneedling 2X. I'd like to do it once more professionally and then continue at home on my worst acne scars. I'm hopeful for continual improvement and I want to encourage anyone reading this to stick with Retin-A and go as slow as you have to in order to stick with it. It helped me clear my acne, keep it away, and is helping to reduce my scars. I probably will never stop using it!!
I will post an update on my scars after more time has passed.

Current skin update

I completed a microneedling session about 5 weeks ago and have been continuing with .025% retin A at night and C E Ferulic from Skin Ceuticals in the morning! I’m happy with my improvement. I’m doing another microneedling session in 2 weeks.

Don’t listen to negative people about your skin-that includes doctors!

When I was going through this emotionally painful journey of dealing with my acne, I was told that my acne scars would be permanent. That is the last thing someone with acne wants to hear- that it will never stop affecting our lives. I want to tell you that no matter how severe your acne is (look at what I went through!!) it WILL get so much better. And acne scars are very treatable. Care for your skin and you will see results. I use vitamin c serum in the morning, sunscreen, Retin A at night, and will continue with microneedling treatments. Do not lose hope. Hugs for you if you’re going through this.
