A Very Expensive Mistake - Abu Dhabi, UAE

Basically I wanted a revision of my C-Section scar...

Basically I wanted a revision of my C-Section scar and a couple inches of skin removed. I think I would have been happy with that as I wasn't seeking a "bikini" body, just a better one. I was fairly fit for my age and enjoyed working out each day including a couple hundred crunches so my tummy was pretty flat and hard, but I had excess skin on the lower abdomen from a pregnancy in my early forties. I went for a consult and the doctor was prepared to do just what I wanted. Unfortunately after the consult I got "pushed" by the office manager into another consult with another doctor, which I had no idea why I was being rerouted. This other doctor was a little too good to be true. Rather than get a couple inches of skin he wanted to remove all the excess skin, basically a full tummy tuck but leaving belly button in place, and no need to repair muscles. He said there would be "no" pain and I would be working out in one month. Under pressure from surgeon, office manager, and now also husband, I scheduled the surgery. I am now 9 or 10 weeks postop, &still cannot exercise, and have been in almost constant pain and discomfort, spent the first five weeks sitting in a chair,(& this doctor would not allow any pain management after day 3). I have been 12 lbs heavier since surgery & cannot wear my old clothes (size 6 and 8), had to buy bigger sizes. On top of that I had a tear in my esophagus and partially collapsed lungs. They didn't tell me after surgery, although I complained of back pain and trouble breathing. I had to find out from an ER a couple days later. Upon complaining of abdominal pain a week or two later I was ridiculed for not standing up straight and pushed flat against the wall by the doctor to "straighten" me. My husband then took me to an ER where they did an ultrasound and found a hematoma extending from my rib cage to the pubic area, which was causing the pain. My cosmetic result is not very good. My belly actually looks bigger so far than before, but I do have a lot of swelling. I also had breast implants which were suppose to be dual plane, but woke from surgery with under the muscle implants, one of which turned out ok, the other did not (snoopy deformity), looks horrible. Overall experience was like a bad dream. Overall result appears poor so far. Hoping for some improvement over time. Sought consult from another surgeon who said the breast implant would not drop due to improper pocket, so I'm looking at more surgery once I am well enough. It has been 10 weeks of misery and despair, and I fear our summer travel plans may be lost as well. Definitely "NOT" worth it. A very expensive mistake.

Alese I so sorry that you have had so much of a bad experience, that couldn't be easy after spending so much money I would hound DR for money back for the F....up...... Do some research internationally I went to DOminican Republic and only paid $3600.00 for TT BBL Lipo Back flanks arm pits thighs stomach love handles chin. You are more than welcome to read my review and look at my pictures. Take DR into consideration at 1/3 of the cost for 4x's as much. Post pictures if possible

Thank you Jules for your response. I think one thing that's been hard is being in a foreign country during this ordeal without friends/family, so I appreciate you. Thanks.

Of course there's no denying that I was fortunate to have a persistent mother that has no problem spending my money but she can have what ever she wants.....because she my Momma and I knew she would take care of me and the rest of the girls and she did. Not sure if you have that option of possibly bringing a friend or family member but put it out there and see if someone bites..... But even if not there are some wonderful women in here I've spoken to so many of them thru reviews as well as on the phone spending hours getting to know them "my little extended family" some I've met and I continue to check on and plan on seeing soon and others I plan on meeting soon and developing a friendship with.......connect with the ladies inbox them exchange numbers have talks on phone trust me you will talk for hours cause there's so much to discuss and compare. Most are looking for the same thing support and a feeling of a bound with someone they can turn to when the real journey kicks into high gear and you ready to take that Blue pill....prior to leaving I exchanged emergency info with my travel buddies and passed it onto my family and friends here so if there was a emergency someone state side could contact their family or visa versa. Do your homework, educate yourself and develope connections and by the time you ready to go you will be ALL GOOD MA

I am so sorry to hear all this :(

Thank you Anna. I posted for two reasons, to vent, and so people who are still considering invasive surgery can be aware of the possibilities. All the preparation in the world can't protect us 100% but the more we know the better. Take care!

How is the healing progressing?

Well, biggest complaint is pain and swelling. I don't know if the pain is related to the hematoma which is suppose to be better or gone, ( they didn't ultrasound it this month), or if it's normal for tummy tuck. A lot of people in my location have had mommy makeovers and they are out and about within 2 to 4 weeks it seems. I'm at 2.5 months and still have trouble walking to the kitchen or cooking dinner. I guess I wonder why I am having a harder time. I was pretty fit at time of surgery and didn't have any health issues that I'm aware of. I wonder if a hematoma causes longer pain and healing.
