Are you completely healed up by now? Is your lip still swollen? You are looking more refreshed in your last pix. I'm having this done in 12 days!!

You must be excited! My lip is not swollen at all anymore. I am looking forward to a revision. I think yours will be a success. The hardest part is waiting after the procedure for the final result .

When are you having your revision? Have you made up your mind who will do it? I am going to definitely express my concern about having enough skin removed. There are many reviews on here stating that revisions are very common. You are a warrior!!!! Keep us posted. You will see my post soon. Pray that it goes smoothly. Thx

I hope that Dr. Sweis put her very conservative nature aside, and be a little more aggressive with my excise of skin. My philtrum is very long and I've always admire women with "fluffy" lips and "tooth show". I guess I will have to wait for the end results. Like you stated, it's a waiting game after the actual surgery.

It's been a while since I've updated anything. My At this point my scar is still feeling tight, and it is quite red. The left side of the scar is beginning to protrude but only slightly. I am self-conscious about going out in public without cover-up, but it's a bit of a catch-22 because I think the cover-up irritates the scar and is keeping it red. But I have had two or three colds since the procedure, and I think those are also causing redness as well as a bit of swelling.
One of the things I haven't read about anywhere on here is how sometimes a lip lift (at least in my case) can cause LESS tooth show than before. I'm not happy about this. I think my PS didn't take enough off (only 4 mm), and as a result, I cannot curl my philtrum up when a smile widely as I used to. In addition, the philtrum bunches up and rounds outwards, folding what little upper lip i have under. It doesn't look good! My PS did not cut up the sides of my nose, and now it seems that there is excess skin there as well, requiring me to sneer even more than before when I smile.
I'm not completely unhappy about it, though: When my mouth is at rest, or when I smile a little bit, there is a slight protrusion of upper lip, whereas before, there was nothing. Also, I do look a little younger, and I reming myself of when I was in my early 20s when I look in the mirror sometimes.
Nobody seems to have noticed anything, including my very perceptive boys. I've told only my husband and one close friend. My husband does notice and likes it, but my friend says she sees no difference.
So, I've decided to seriously look into having a revision with another PS. I'm in the process of consulting with Dr. Osuch in Warsaw, but I would ideally like to find a good PS in Prague so that I can make a special little solo vacation out of this. I also want to get a fat transfer to my lips, philtrum, nasolabial lines, smiles lies, and maybe prejowels. Please let me know if any of you know of anyone in Prague who can do all these things.

I think that you have a great result from your lip lift. I can see the difference now from one photo to the other. I'm having the same procedure here in the U.S. On February 17. How are you healing now. How many mm's did he remove. Didn't you discuss this before the procedure? You should go back and tell the ps that you're not happy.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, I originally had a philtrum length of 21mm, and now it is 17mm. He removed 4mm. There was more of a difference in the initial days after the procedure. After the swelling went down, I look very similar. Of course I discussed the amount to be taken off with my PS before I had it done. I agreed to the 4mm because it's scary! I didn't know how I would look. Now that I know, I would like more taken off. And as I previously wrote, yes, I did talk to my surgeon here about having a revision several times. He won't do it. And that is why I am discussing it with other plastic surgeons. I think as a principal my PS will not remove more than 4mm on anybody.

I guess it's time to research another ps like you mentioned. Too bad, after going through all the pain and expense. So, I'm learning from your experience that I must reiterate to my ps to take off a substantial amount, without looking pulled.
January 26, 2017
Yes, and it's hard to know in advance what the right amount is! I'm thinking of having 4mm more taken off, but now I'm wondering if I should have more than that. I'd be at 13mm by then, still on the long side, I think... but too much change and it looks unnatural!

My philtrum is very very long. I'm hoping that my ps will not be too conservative and not remove enough. It is amazing how such a subtle change makes the world of difference!! Did you see my review ?

Day 3

I do see a difference, and that's good. I just got back from a check-up, and I really chickened out in asking about a revision. I suppose I felt a bit intimidated. As soon as I mentioned that there is still no tooth show, he stated emphatically that he does not do lip lifts that make people look like bunny rabbits. He told me that I will see some tooth show - but not a lot - once the swelling goes down. He again recommended fat injections down the road. What are your experiences with fat injection in the lips?

Of course, it's only day three. I will just have to wait. I am happy with a slight improvement. Maybe I just wasn't meant to have the sexiest lips in the world. That's okay, I do think my beautiful eyes make up for it (sorry no photos!). But anyway, what do you all think?

I see an improvement for sure! You hardly swelled which is a bonus:)

I agree it is a subtle change but it looks very pretty and natural. Definitely improved.
The injections will increase your lip size but won't do anything for tooth show. What you choose would depend on your goals? I did not want bigger lips but I wanted a shorter Philtrum and some tooth show. I'm guessing your doctor would think I look like a rabbit ;0). You could also try a temporary filler just to see if you like it, before committing to fat - which is a larger commitment.

It's a subtle change and looks nice. Did you take photos of the markings he did on your lip before he cut? If not, what was the shape? Right now, you look natural. I should warn you that most lip lifts drop about 1-1.5 mm over the course of the year, so your final result will be more modest than what it is now. Do your research!

I side with the Dr. This is one surgery you cannot reverse if you botch it up. You cannot add length and I have seen some lip lifts that were too aggressive with the removal of skin. Golden Rule: Don't end up with your patient looking like a cartoon character and be conservative with cosmetic surgery. A artistic Dr. will try to achieve symmetry and balance out the rest of your features. Be happy to have picked a thoughtful dr. and not one who is out for the $. He wants his patients happy and you should be happy. I want to have this done in the next two years and I want to go conservative.

I think his decision to only take out 4 mm was wise. your results are very pretty and natural. When they take out too much it looks weird.
