Face Fat Transfer & Scar Correction, Keloid & Old Filler Removal

Had a sub epidermal cyst removed from cheek a year...

WORTH IT$5,000
Had a sub epidermal cyst removed from cheek a year ago for biopsy as it created a bump and was irritating when wearing sun glasses. Scar developed keloids and hardened below skin as well and also now I had a deep line that went in 45 degree angle across my cheek as muscle seemed to have been cut during surgery a year prior, so I needed scar correction and filler removal, the old surgery of cyst removal was done by different Surgeon, the filler was done by previous Dermatologist, their work turned out asymetrically and I developed bumps that reached under my eye as well as around the scar area. Decided to change surgeons and to go with fat transfer, was hesitant due to mixed reviews regarding fat transplant as it seems the new grafts not always take on but don't want to use unnatural fillers. Also decided to do general corrections under eyes and other areas since I was doing this procedure, also on forehead to improve texture of skin and reduce lines.. as well as marionette lines, might as well. Surgery was explained thoroughly in several lenghty consultations and then performed without issues, quick recovery, very little pain, anticipated swelling, mild bruising. Fat was harvested with minor lipo sculpting. The harvest areas are bruised more than face. I bruise very easily, so it comes at no surprise. One thing made me nervous in the beginning: Dr explained that the swelling between eyes was from fluid running downward from forehead. Swelling subsided and greatly improved, still noticeable though but I m only barely 4 days post op. Will give update on progress how grafts take on. So far so good.Left side of face is more swollen than right as anticipated due to corrective surgery plus fat transfer. Hopefully it was sufficient amount of fat, that is the complaint I read about most, that not enough fat was transfered. It seems, that every patient takes on different and it's very difficult to get it 100% right from what I am reading and from what my Dr told me. Keeping fingers crossed.

Very patient, listens, friendly, great bedside manners and had direct number for emergency contact which is definitely very comforting. Have used this Doctor for past 6 months for minor issues and sports injury surgery on shin which went fine as well. Spent one night in hospital, room was top notch, from facility to food quality and service. Best of the best.

I think Drs can have experience enough looking to patient body , but is not convenient for them tell you that you don't have enough fat.

Profit30, as far as I understand from what I have been reading from Drs statements in medical journals and other sources online, is that every patient absorbs fat differently, just as they heal differently, and some doctors prefer to play safe and inject less vs too much. As long as I know about this, I m ok with it, I can always repeat the procedure and do touch ups. I did this to stay clear from unnatural fillers and botox, so that is my risk I'm taking. As far as my recovery, I am 5 days post -op, my left side, where all the additional corrective work was done, is bit more swollen than right side. It is the only area that is showing actual a larger bruise (not dark purple, just darker than my skin and there are areas that look yellow around the cheeks) .The right side has very minor bruising almost no more swelling. I can make full facial expressions again, which I could not until yesterday. The harvest areas are a lot more bruised but it's getting better. No swelling there. The swelling in the face in general has subsided significantly. I can see the that the nasolabial folds are definitely going to be gone and nicely covered by fat grafts. Wish now I had the cheek bones done too, but I have very pronounced cheek bones to begin with and thought they didn't need improvement and I told the doc that I was afraid it would make my face too wide as it is wide already. I have normal movement in my face now as well. I am only hoping, the fat will stick around and not disappear altogether that is my only worry. As far as the harvested areas: I can tell that by minor fat reduction my already shapely body has now taken to another level.I didn't not have much fat to begin with but this treatment really defined the areas that I could not get rid of - and I work out almost every day!! I have not taken pain meds for the past 3 days as I didn't have pain, and against Drs orders I didn't take the celebrex as I don't trust it and don't like taking pharmaceuticals, so I anticipated the swelling to last longer, but that has not occurred.I am very pleased with the way the scar -and hollow area caused by it - looks like now. I LOVE the forehead, as it seems to have filled out areas that redifine my face and profile. I truly believe this procedure requires an 'artistic' touch from your pracitioner, just just great medical skill, in other words, someone with a 'good eye' for rescultping , reshaping.... I think by tomorrow I 'm ready to put some make up on and go outside again. I was told I may look bad for 2 weeks, sometimes more and I have read this on here ,but even the pronounced swelling between my eyes has completely subsided. For anyone getting fat transfer on the forehead, please don't be shocked when the fluid drops down between your eyes, giving you that 'fat cat' look ,that some on here described. It will go away but your eyes will 'shrink' half their size and it's NOT pleasant when it happens as it instills a fear that this may be fat that has moved down, which it hasn't . I realized , that we think of all sorts of complications in the early stages of recovery, my mind went a 1000000 miles an hour when I woke up that morning with a face of a cross between munchkin & clingon, but it all good now, lol!! So far so good, it is still too early for me to tell if fat transfers work - so I am leaving it as 'not sure' marked for now until it's possible to make a fair statement , I am still in early healing process, but if much of it stays the way it is , I will be ONE HAPPY CAMPER!! Will give updates.

I had a fat transplant from abdomen to my face over a year ago and I am very unhappy.I have a masculine look now and back and blue around eyes still !!! Also my lips are crooked and can not pronounce some words. My stomach is dimpled too. I am hoping the fat transfer isn't permanent as they said it would last forever!! I'm not going back to that doctor but would like to have my femininity back....any comments?

Hi Debra, good grief, so sorry to read this. My eye area never went black, only discolored, but not severely. I m into day 7 and have only bruises left around the area on the cheek where my scar was 'repaired' but other than that there is not much bruising, just barely, only in the thigh & arm area ...If you are still bruised after one year, that does not sound right. My lips look great, I can speak fine, still bit swollen though, improving daily, but not duck face or such, my face felt bit stiff and paralized during the first days but it's fine now still bit swollen on that left side but I can go outside and nobody would notice that I had surgery, with the help of a little make up. I would strongly suggest to seek another surgeon, did you ever address these issues with the Doc who performed your surgery?? As I said earlier, fat transplant for some people can be permanent, so it 's worth consulting with another Doctor. As far as my abdominal area goes - which had very little fat to begin with and never bruised after harvesting the fat - it's without dimples and smooth, it actually never showed any sign that anything had been done other than that now my abs are really showing, which was what I told the Doc I wanted. 4 or 6 pack will only show with that final thin fat layer gone which is the hardest to loose , especially my age.... Sounds like you really had bad luck with your Doctor. But I think all these issues can be corrected with the right person!!! My doctor - it's bit early to tell , but I'm already happy with my results a week later - had to fix two botched jobs performed by other Doctors, so I know how it feels, when you get under wrong knife!!!! Just hoping the grafts won't reduce too much. I like the results already. Please seek another doctor! I think your situation can be corrected with the right person!

One more thing, Debra, Have you checked the Q & A 'Ask a Doctor' forum on here?? I m sure you will get great help on there!
August 24, 2015
No I haven't ...I just happened on this site...I will check it out and hey thanks for commenting!!! I am wishing you great results...sounds like you are doing much better than I did!!!

Yes..you can post a question on there with all your concerns and Doctors will answer. I strongly suggest to put pictures up so they get a better idea of your situation. I know that's. The last thing you probably want to do but you can take partial face shots like I did if you are worried. As for me- too early to tell if my fat transplant is going to be a success- but at least the swelling is so little that it already looks ok - so worst thing that can happen at this point is that I too little results... and need a follow up session. Good luck and post your question on the Dr forum!!!

I need to clarify something, as I am received a message from someone asking me why I developed keloid after fat graft, but it was from another surgery done by a different doctor that caused the keloid NOT the fat grafting. The doctor that did my fat grafting corrected all these existing problems caused by other surgeons.

Who was the Dr. That did your fat transfer to your face.
August 25, 2015
It was Dr Wolter in Healthpoint Clinic Abu Dhabi. Very pleased so far but still too early to tell.

Do you have any pictures prior to surgery! Especially the one with scar in it!
August 25, 2015
I do - but I would delete immediately the ones with the scar and the deep line. The line showed only when I smiled, so I sort of tried not to smile in photos and would take pics in an angle hiding my left cheek. I can look but don't feel like digging through 1000s of pics til I find one that shows.....if I come across one, I ll post it. The "before" pics are at the Doctor's office, by that time these were taken, I had a filler injection from another doc (that went wrong and bumpy) .

Reduced swelling, left side still bit more (since I had extra work done there to clean up the mess from previous doctors) but only noticeable when pressing on area. Few bruises left , but easily covered up with make up. Nasolabial folds look great, so does forehead. Forehead has made great difference in appearance for me. Seems to really have impact on overall facial structure and completes it when done properly. All areas seem evenly filled , just waiting for swelling to reduce completely, hopefully grafts will stay. Too early to tell. Lips look great, also bit swollen. No photo today, already put make up and and ready to go out now. =)
