Forever Grateful

This is just a small update showing some pictures of the progress I've made throughout my very long journey. You can see there was still some skin that had to be removed after my first surgery. Dr. Haramis was able to remove a lot more skin with my second surgery.

Here’s a little background about my journey. I was 250 lbs. when I had my first child at the age of 38. Six months after my daughter’s birth I had gastric bypass surgery. I lost 130 lbs. with the aid of the surgery along with my determination to change my eating habits and working out to keep the weight off. At the age of 45, I had my second daughter. Although I lost all of the baby weight, my skin never snapped back. It completely stretched out and I looked like a misshapen blob of skin. At the age of 50, I decided to give myself a birthday present. I had my first abdominoplasty. I was not happy with my results or the surgeon who performed it.

I went to Dr. Haramis for an abdominoplasty revision. He was my first choice to have it done with but because I live so close to his office, I was afraid that someone I knew would see me. What a big mistake! I had my first abdominoplasty on August 9, 2021, with another plastic surgeon in New Brunswick, NJ. The cost was $16,000. The outcome wasn’t bad at first but three months later what I thought was swelling in my lower abdomen was actually a step off. I asked the doctor about getting a revision. He said that I could get the revision done and all I would have to pay for was the surgical center fees. When I asked if he would redo my monsplasty, all of a sudden, he changed his mind and said that I would have to pay for it and I would still be left with the step off. That meeting left me angry and upset with this doctor and I vowed never to return. As soon as I got home, I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Haramis. He was friendly, courteous, and listened to everything that I had to say. He made me feel at ease and comfortable with him. He told me that I would need the abdominoplasty and muscle repair redone. He also said that he would get rid of the step off and I would have a monsplasty as well! Having the first surgery was scary. I knew coming out of this consultation, that I would be safe in Dr. Haramis’ hands. I left confident and hopeful. Ready to do this all over again with the right surgeon this time. I was NOT wrong!
I had the surgery done with Dr. Haramis on May 9, 2022. The cost of the surgery was $11,700 and worth every penny! Before the surgery, Dr. Haramis took pictures. Even though I knew the pictures were going to be taken of my abdominal area only, I couldn’t hold back the biggest and cheesiest smile ever. I was so happy and elated to have him do the surgery. I wasn’t nervous or scared. I knew that I was in great hands.
Recovery is never pleasant. It’s a long process but very much worth it in the end. I saw Dr. Haramis throughout my recovery, and he was always attentive. He made me feel that he truly cared about me and my happiness with the outcome of my surgery. I am ecstatic with my results. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I am no longer depressed over the way that I look. I saw him February 8, 2023. I need just a little bit of skin taken off the ends and Dr. Haramis informed me that I wouldn’t have to pay for it, and it would be done in the office. This was great news! Hopefully, I can have it scheduled for mid-April 2023. I will update after I have it done.

You always treated my family and I with respect. My 7-year-old thinks you’re very nice. Your staff is friendly as well. I recommend anyone to you.

For anyone that is on the fence about getting this surgery done in the central New Jersey area, schedule a consultation with Dr. Haramis. You will not regret it. In my opinion, he is one of the best in the state. He is knowledgeable, skilled, and kind. All of which are priceless.
