I've had two 10 pound babies (gained 68 pounds with the first and 50 with the second) and have busted my ass off since they were born to lose the baby weight (and more). I seen results and was happy with my weight loss (got down to the weight I was in high school!) but still could never get into a bathing suit. I missed my sons first time jumping off a diving board because I was too ashamed to get into a bathing suit at our local pool because of my stretch marks. After saving up for a year I finally have a surgery date (May 19th 2015). Have already had my pre -op appointment and have paid for the surgery but after reading alot of reviews about the healing process I am starting to wonder if I made the right decision. Is it selfish of me to take that much time off from my daily activities with my kids? Will I be ok to play with them and go to the park after a month? Advice from anyone going through the same thing would be appreciate!!!

I don't know if it's because it's super early or if I have a high pain tolerance, but I'm feeling fine. My lower back is sore from being hunched over and obviously my stomach is sore but it's tolerable. I was able to do some laundry and clean the bathroom (with the help from my sweet little 4 year old who is eager to take care of me). Doctor said he will be removing drains on Friday but we will see how much fluid I'm draining by then. Anyways I'm hoping I continue to heal and it goes up from here, because so far it's been alot better than I was expecting.

My drains were taken out on day 4 and it was such a gross/weird feeling but man does it ever feel nice to be free of them! I finally got a sneak peak at my new tummy and I can't believe that it's mine! Barely any stretch marks left and the belly button is so cute compared to my old wrinkly belly button! Other than the back pain from being hunched over, the pain has been pretty minimal. I do get it now when people say you get worn down easily tho. Washed my hair, did my hair and make up, went out for a car ride to run errands with my husband and by the time we got back I felt like I ran a marathon. Definitely need to take it nice and easy. So happy I went through with it, and just looking forward to what the future holds. Once I'm cleared to work out again I'm going to go harder than I've ever gone and achieve more than I've ever achieved. I feel like this surgery wiped my slate clean and I have no urge to put anything bad into my body. I've been eating super clean (low carb, high protien, high fibre) and I'm down 7 pounds!
You are not selfish and do deserve to do this for yourself. As mothers we always put everything and everyone else first. It's time for you now so keep moving forward, keep your chin up and be happy. The healing process can be slow but worth the results.
Yes you will be able to go to the park with the kids in a month. You will be sore and have swelling but will be able to enjoy the kids. No lifting though for a while.
