I had my uppers for about 9 months and my upper teeth were okay- could have been better. I still have one tooth that never turned.

My bottom teeth, however, were never corrected. I had 27 aligners and my dentists told me I was ready for retainers. My bottom teeth look exactly the same as they had when I started. I have a deep bite, three of my teeth need to come down, and one needs to come up- plus it over laps.

My dentists basically said I was being a perfectionist. I recently moved to another state and saw an ortho. He told me that I should have never been in Invisalign for my lower because there is no way the aligners could have fixed my teeth. He said all of my issues are not something the aligners can correct. Essentially they are flimpsy pieces of plastic that can turn teeth and move them slightly. They are not for major corrections.

Basically, if you are considering Invisalign, go to an ortho, not a dentist. I was duped and now have to spend ANOTHER 1800 dollars to fix my teeth after being in Invisalign for over a year.

Also, something my dentist did not tell me: if you need a refinement (when they recast your teeth for adjustments) you are allowed one and then have to pay more money. You also have to pay additional money for retainers. They never told me that either.

This is an expensive investment and make sure you get more than one opinion from orthodontists. They are trained to correct teeth and have years of school to do so- unlike dentists who take a certification course and follow an instruction manual.

I will have to say this was the WORST investment of my life.

I really appreciate the photo in your review! I have been debating braces vs invisalign and my bottom teeth look exactly like yours. One tooth is a bit lower and being turned and pushed out a bit. I had braces 25 years ago and my bottoms have moved and crowded each other. I will definitely get a second opinion on the invisalign. Thanks! ~Dan

First of all I would like to say...you have beautiful upper teeth! But I can understand your frustration with the lowers...I find it strange that the tooth which obviously needs the most movement does not have a 'button' attached to it - there is NO way anyone could think that it would be able to move that distance with just pressure of the aligners alone. I personally have had perfect treatment (my bottoms will be finished in 2 and a half weeks and my tops in about 5 months) - but I wish you all the best with what happens next.

Ok what you need to do is demand that your orthodontist take a remold and send to Invisalign again to get another set of trays. They can fix the bottom, seems like your orthodontist doesn't want to do the work. I've had my top and bottom molded now 3 times, but mine have made great progress. If they aren't done when the last trays are on then they remold and send to Invisalign for adjustments. Hope this helps!

I live in Ft. Myers, and would love to know who you are unhappy with, so I don't get the same one. Please advise me asap. Thanks

I have had invisaligns for 6 months now and have a similar situation. My bottom teeth look exactly like yours, and were not corrected. It was obvious to me that the space the retainer created to pull my tooth through was more narrow than the tooth itself. The pressure has created stress marks on either side of my tooth. Also, my primary reason for getting these at age 52, was to correct an overbite. This was not "part of the plan" I was told by my dentist, my first mistake. DO NOT GET THESE FROM A DENTIST. The entire process has been supervised by a dental assistant. I had a 3 minute discussion with my distist who then programed me for this 6 month process. They did not even offer to show me the digital before and after plan. I saw this after complaining about the result. an accident. The plan to straighten my bottom teeth was to fan them out even further to make room for the overlapped teeth. Now I have an overbite on the top, and my teeth are fanned out on the bottom. I could not really afford these, but was so tired of my teeth. Take my advise. Stay away from them, go to an orthodontist to get braces which have made great advancements and will turn out to be much more convenient in the long run. You will get sick of the plastic trays and your teeth may or may not end up being corrected. They cost a couple thousand more than regular braces and are not covered by most insurance plans. I can see why now. DON'T DO IT YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!

I agree, don't do it! i've had them for over than a year and don't have great results, plus I am very tired of taking care of them.
