Not Happy with the Rhino

Dr. Epstein and his staff are very nice people. I also believe that he is a very good surgeon, however in my case, my rhinoplasty was horrendous. Instead of correcting the curved-deviated septum-he bypassed it, and added filler to the opposite side, so that it would not look curved. My nostrils retracted resulting in a too short, fat nose with high nostrils. I would not take pics for several months after. I still avoid photos because the nostrils are very obviously uneven. I regret the decision to have a rhino everytime I look in the mirror. I won't even post a pic because of how it looks.
To his credit he tried to correct it twice with ear cartilage. By then I did not care about the curve I just wanted nostrils long enough to cover my nose hairs.
I wasn't going to post a review because I appreciated his efforts to correct it, but I paid 12K for what I consider a very poor job. I see his other rhinos and wonder why mine was so bad. I truly feel that his always being rushed was a factor. Even when I went in the 2nd and 3rd time, I heard everything he said and again it felt rushed.
His staff are very pleasant and in all honesty, so is he.

Regrets

When I decided to get a Rhinoplasty I went to a couple of surgeons. I decided to go with the surgeon who, although he charged twice as much, said he performed several procedures weekly. This made me feel confident of a great outcome. Initially, I loved the results-my nose looked straight and shorter which was what I wanted. ( My initial complaint was a deviated septum and a long nose which, with age, was becoming droopy). However, after awhile the swelling went down, the skin retracted and I was left with uneven short nostrils, lt nostril higher than my rt., uneven columella and a still deviated septum. To his credit Dr. Epstein agreed to do a minor repair for $750. I agreed and he grafted skin from my ear to my lt. shorter nostril, he didn't want to do the rt nostril, but he made it a little narrower because it was very wide, and filed the columella to make it appear level. I didn't bother with the septum, as I didn't want a full revision. I was already regretting my initial decision. It looked better afterwards however, my rt nostril is higher than my left, and my nose is still crooked. Ultimately I remain unhappy with my results. Dr. Epstein is a very nice person and his staff are always very warm and professional. At my latest follow up he said he could do no more for me. I now have to decide whether or not I should go for a full revision. I'm truly confused because Dr. Epstein does good work. However, he always appears rushed and I wonder if this is the reason for my results. I'm going to wait awhile before I post my pics.

When I initially decided to get a rhinoplasty, I...

When I initially decided to get a rhinoplasty, I went to the cosmetic whom I had used in the past.
My husband had also decided to have a face lift done, so we scheduled the consultation together.
As usual it was a pleasant session, but I was disappointed that he did not have digital imaging. I could not imagine having the rhinoplasty done without having at least an idea about the possible final results.
My nose sits in the middle of my face and enters a room before me. I could not chance a bad result.
I researched rhinoplasty - what to look for when contemplating the procedure, etc.
After thinking about it for a couple of weeks, I decided to schedule a consultation with Dr. Epstein. This consultation was much more detailed which made me feel better. I explained what I disliked about my nose and the changes I wanted. He explained that what I wanted was possible and said digital images were available!
After viewing the digital images I decided to proceed. The images looked great and I figured even if the results were close to the images, I would be happy.
It has now been about 4 1/2 weeks after the procedure and the result is better than the digital images.
There's still some minor swelling, but even with the swelling I am very happy with my new nose.
Every time I go in for my post-op visits, I tell Dr. Epstein that this is the best rhinoplasty he's ever done, but of course this is just my way of saying how much I love my nose.
My advice to others seeking a rhinoplasty is to do your research and go with the best. This is truly a case where you get what you pay for. There are many sites that advertise significantly lower prices, but if the results are not to your liking, a revision will end up costing you more than if you had gone with the best from the beginning.
I knew my rhinoplasty would be good, as I had total confidence in Dr. Epstein.
I went with the best because I'm worth it.
