I searched dermatologist in my area, and come upon one 15 mins from me. He just happened to be the best at this procedure. His website stated “Dr. Sterling was selected to lecture on his expertise on Chemical Peels and Skin Rejuvenation to other dermatologists at the American Academy of Dermatology 2019, 2018 and 2016 meetings in San Diego and Washington D.C. and the International Peel Society 2019 and 2017 meetings”.Along with Before & after photos. Those were AMAZING! I made an appt ASAP and had my consult. My skin was very damaged from years of sun bathing and smoking (I’ve quit!) On a scale of (wrinkles, brown spots and a bit crepeing) 1-10 I was a 7. I woke up every morning disliking my skin for years so I was excited to do this for me! I will post weekly photos. My procedure was about 90+ minutes. It was tough to say the least! I had no clue how tough it would be. You have to mentally prepare yourself for sure. But I knew the outcome would be SO worth the pain! The recovery the first 48 hours wasn’t easy either. Especially when you have to wash (shower) your face 3X a day.

It looks very painful and uncomfortable - how are you? What do you have to do everyday to it? How much downtime is there?

Hi V. I’m good today thx! The procedure was very rough itself. Deep peel are painful. Phenol. It’s the most dramatic results.one time deal. He did tell me I will be very swollen for a couple days and some throbbing. It was uncomfortable for the first few days. I’m Day 4. I posted pics. A lot of the swelling has gone down. I’m 85% peeled. Very pink! Recovery plan is Vaseline every 2-3 hours. Layer it on! Day two you gently wash your face with Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo-Vaseline again every 2-3 hours. Best to shower to wash face and let the steam at it. At least 3x a day. Today I showered 4x. I believe by day 11-I’ll be able to camouflage the pinkness with special foundation and go out. I saw my Dr on day 3 and I’ll see him again Thursday. I’ll be posting my progress with photos.

My son 19 got his first peel recommended my his dermatologist . He thinks they messed up his face and is freaking out on how dark and dirty it looks. I’ve tried to assure him once it starts peeling that dark spots will come off . God I hope so I’m so worried , he is really regretting getting it done . He’s a handsome guy and I’ll never forgive myself . And I sure don’t want to sue that doctor ! LOL

Ty so much!

It does look extremely painful. Soo glad that went away- thankful for that smiling pic. The price we pay to stay young right? So did it erase all the smokers lines? And did you get injections or any kind or is all the change in the pic with your hair all prettied up response from only the peel and a bit of make up alone?

Yes it was but was worth it. It did an amazing job on my smokers lines. No botox or fillers and yes I have makeup on because I’m still pink!

What kind of chemical peel did you have? What % was it?
March 19, 2019
It was custom to my face. Mostly deep. I will find out on my second check up Thursday the %. I had significant wrinkles around my eyes “crows feet”, crepe under eyes, upper lip & forehead.
March 19, 2019
Thanks for the reply. Was it $2500? I didn't realize these peels were that expensive. What is your downtime?
March 19, 2019
You’re welcome. Love this forum. Women who are open & share their stories!. The price depends on the individual. Like I stated 1-10 skin. I was a 7 because of sun damage & age. Wrinkles, spots, creping under eyes. Also had my neck done. Downtime could be 10-14 days. I had this done on the 15th. 4 days in...im very red and skin is slowly coming off. You need to put Vaseline on every 2-3 hours, two days after peel you start washing your face, very gently. Best to do it in the shower. Steam is GOOD. Showers are GOOD. At least 3 a day. I’m doing 4-5 a day. It’s painful to wash face so I take Ibuprofen or light pain killer 30 mins before.

Hi! I need to get a peel under my eyes for crepiness! I'm in NYC. Who do you recommend? thanks!
April 28, 2019
Who was your doc? I see you're in NJ, I'm in NYC and getting IPL for broken blood capillaries on the face but need something stronger for under eye crepy areas and hate fraxel so I am researching peels. Thanks for any info!

March 20, 2019
Wow! I am in awe of the difference between your first picture and how well you are healing. Your skin looks amazing. I was hoping you might post a pic of yourself before the peel. I'm considering doing an in-office peel too and would really like to see what your skin looked like before your procedure. Congratulations on your results!
March 20, 2019
Thank you! I’m amazed myself by the results thus far. I am definitely going to post a before photo. My doctor took a few before he started of course a very clean, no make up face. I’m going to post those when I get them, probably in the next week.
March 20, 2019
Wonderful! I look forward to seeing them and thanks so much for your response.
March 29, 2019
I put up my lasted photo with a pic the day of procedure
March 29, 2019
Thank you so much for posting your before pic! Your skin looks great and I can see how worthwhile this procedure can be. It looks painful though, but worth it.
March 29, 2019
Ty! Yes painful and yes worth it. My skin was awful. Now I love it.
March 20, 2019
I think you look great already! Congratulations! Were you awake for the procedure, or put under anesthesia?
March 20, 2019
Hi! Ty! I’ve wanted this for a long time! Tho costly & painful it was so worth it. To answer your Q...no I was awake. If you can be put under do it! lol. I was given a needle of a sedative and Xanax. It’s rough but no pain no gain! Haha
