51 year old mama planning a tummy tuck!

Hi everyone! I posted my reviews on my liposuction and breast that transfer on here in the past couple of years. And while I'm happy with the breast fat transfer, it gave me a cup increase in size from a B to a C cup, I was left with saggy, deflated skin from the liposuction and just plain distended tummy from stretched out muscles. In retrospect, I should've just had the tummy tuck to begin with but I truly felt that my skin was good quality and would bounce back.Unfortunately that wasn't entirely the case. And while the results are good, it still bothers me that I have a belly pooch that sticks out, constantly making me look like I'm about three months pregnant. I also have that deflated balloon look when I suck in my stomach. And my skin overhangs when I sit down.I have two children, age 16 and 22. I have chosen Dr. Ristegio's to be my surgeon based on the search I did here on RealSelf in my area and the pictures of his tummy tucks. His belly buttons look really good as well. I wanted a surgeon that would do a nice low clean incision that could be hidden in a bikini and who did a lot of tummy tucks every year. Basically, with someone with a lot of experience in tummy tucks!! Dr. Restifio answered all of my questions and seems like a great surgeon! Plus I've seen other reviews on him from and all his clients have been happy with their tummy tucks by him. The office staff is amazing as well, answering any little question I have had since I've had my consultation.I'm looking to schedule this sometime in early February. Between all the holidays coming up and my daughter is involved in a varsity sport there is just no time to do it in the fall. Fingers crossed February will work and by June I should be in good shape! I feel guilty spending the money doing this and also nervous about the surgery but I feel like it's now or never! My husband and I love the beach and we spent a lot of summers down by the ocean and my husband wants to retire somewhere near the water so I anticipate wearing a bathing suit a lot in the coming years! I don't always want to be worrying about concealing my stomach. I posted some pictures at where I am starting off. The doctor does not believe I will need any more liposuction as he felt mostly what is left is skin. I had a nice small waist coming out of liposuction but it seems to have widened. My guess is it's from menopause and I also am not able to do any ab work due to a pelvic floor issue. I eat clean and work out for over an hour every day doing cardio and weightlifting. That's another reason I want to have a tummy tuck to tighten the muscles. I have about a 2 inch gap in my diastisis. He will, however, do any liposuction free of charge if he feels that will give me the best result when he is in there. Can also choose between a standard tummy tuck with drains or a dreamless tummy tuck. That is about 1K more. I need to do more research into what gives the best result, dreamless or standard tummy tuck? I'm guessing the countdown is starting!

Thanks for taking the time to post in the RealSelf community! We completely understand the mom-guilt about taking the time/money to have surgery. And... in these crazy days it's important to practice self-care and to remember that your results will last for many years if you maintain your weight! Patients always say they wish they'd done it sooner. We are happy to answer your questions and to support you through recovery. Our hope is that this will be life-changing for you!

Is Dr. R doing your lipo at no cost while he's doing he TT?
October 18, 2021
So he told me that I would not need any Lipo. I have had Lipo twice in the past couple of years with a PS in Westport. I would like him to do a little light Lipo while he's in there because everything I've read you get the best results if you combine Lipo with tummy tuck. So I will see what he has to say about it comes surgery day. I have very little fat most likely, mostly skin at this point. But I'm sure there is a little fat that could be Lipo'd!

Hi! Best of luck on your tt in February. Please keep us posted.

Are you allowed to share the price he quoted you?
January 5, 2022
Just over 11 K. That includes the surgery center fee and the anesthesiologist fee. I believe the tummy tuck was 7,500

How much was your procedure?

Booked or February 24th!

lindyshellp
I put down my deposit and I’m booked for the 24th of February! My daughter does competitive cheer and I had to try to work around her games and competition dates. I’m booked for a drainless tummy tuck but the coordinator said I could change it to drains as it gets closer if I decide to go that way. Drainless just seems less messy and I’ve heard your mobility is better right afterwards because you don’t have to lug around drains and empty them. I also have heard the drains can sometimes pinch or hurt. But I want the best outcome so I’m still doing a bit more research!

Why did you book so far out?
September 26, 2021
because my daughter is in competitive cheer and is extremely busy in the fall into the first part of the year. Quite frankly she has competitions until mid March but I didn't want to wait that far out. But we host a competition locally at her high school and it is a lot of work for the moms. I had to book after that which is supposedly going to be the end of January.

I am also booked in February and it will be here before you know it. I need to lose about 15 pounds or so before my sx so that I achieve the best result.
October 6, 2021
Good luck! I'll follow you! I hope we both have successful surgeries!

Are you doing drain less or traditional with drains? I haven't decided yet

Just reviews I read here and reached out to them via message. They all have been super happy! Who is your surgeon?
October 6, 2021
I will be seeing Dr. Restifo. He said in my case it would be better for me not to do the drainlees TT.
October 6, 2021
Well, I'm glad to know someone will be going through the same thing with me with the same surgeon in the same month! Good luck to both of us!!

Moved up my date to January 27th!!!

lindyshellp
So we finally got my daughters competitive cheer schedule and the February date is so close to one of the important competitions. I texted Rachel immediately to see if there were any openings in the end of January or earlier in February. Unfortunately he was booked up through the end of March but she told me to call Marie at the office to see if there any looming cancellations. I spoke to Marie and there were no openings so I asked to be put on his cancellation list. She called me back the next day with an opening on January 27th! His staff is so lovely and responsive. They are all wonderful! Exactly what you are looking for and what you need when you’re undergoing a major surgery!

Are you having a mini-Tummy Tuck? You seem like you can get away with lipo or a mini-tummy tuck. Good luck! Mine is a day before you! Jan 26th Take Care!
January 4, 2022
Hi! I already had lipo which left me with saggy skin due to having children. I have loose skin above my belly button so only a full tt will do. Good luck on your tt too! Will you be documenting your journey?

Got it! You are going to look awesome! I haven’t decided yet, but I am leaning towards it. I will take pre photos and decide afterwards. My only hesitation is that I tend to get really sick from General Anesthesia and may not feel up to it. But my doc has a plan for that and perhaps I can help someone else. This site has been so helpful and women here so unselfish and giving of themselves! It’s pretty incredible!! I think that’s why many pay it forward:) Take care! Keep posting! :)

I hope you don't get sick from the anesthesia! Make sure they give you some good meds for that! If you do post, let me know! I've kind of become addicted to the site intend to post all my procedures, lol. But I hear what you're saying, I might be not immediately posting right after surgery, lol. Good luck to you as well!

Ask for a Scope patch! Did absolute WONDERS for me!

Thank you!! I hope we both post!
Crossing my fingers, I don’t get sick.
Recovering is gonna be challenging
ask for the Exparel shot. That helps with the pain the first 3 days. I’m getting it. It can be pricey, but worth it! I’m getting a TT and breast implants so I can use the help! Lol
Keep us posted!!

I'm paying for it too! An extra $500 where I am going but worth it I think!

Thank you! I was told about pills to prevent nausea and I heard about a patch.
I will bring up the Scope patch:) You gals rock! I’ve learned so much here! Can’t thank you enough
January 11, 2022
My anesthesiologist put the scope patch on me before they took me to the OR, and she dosed me with Zofran as she woke me up. My surgeon prescribed me Zofran as well, but I didn't need any as I never got nauseous. The scopalamine patch lasts 3 days.
