500cc Silicone Submuscular Breast Implant Removal

UPDATED FROM booboo133

almost 4 weeks post op

Almost 4 weeks postop—using the pec muscle is still uncomfortable (but likely will be until I get it fixed). Do not miss the implants at all! To anyone contemplating removal, don’t be afraid, it is worth it! Although i would recommend having the prc muscle sutured down...

Beautiful shape and congratulations on your quick recovery! It looks like you are at least a C-cup. I personally always liked the natural breast swoop versus the over-filled upper pole which became a fad due to implant popularity. Sooner or later, the style will be back to natural as with all fashion cycles. Good luck with getting the pec fixed.
I think they did a great job! I am nervous, I am scheduled for explant at end of January.
so far i think you look great, im planning to get my implants removed this year. But im scared to get a lift.
Hey I had my implants removed full capsulectomy. No lift. My dr told me it would be best to get a lift but once I got over with surgery they look good no need for a lift. I had my implants in 3 years. Happy I removed them.
I just had a lift two days ago. It's just a little pain and the bra is a bit aggravating.
Did she remove the complete capsule?
nope capsules were left, it was just simple removal under local freezing...sadly will need a second surgery to suture the muscle back to the chest wall/detach it from the breast tissue that it’s healed onto

two week postop

Here are some two week postop photos (not flexing). Sadly I still have the annoying muscle animation issue which also feels super uncomfortable/weird but I have been trying not to use my pec muscle at all while things heal, will go for a checkup in spring to see if I want the muscle repaired or not. I have been working out at the gym (light/moderate cardio only) and some leg exercises. The breasts aren’t perfect but I was honestly expecting a worse outcome... I am glad to have the heavy implants out! I do have some stretch marks and also the weight of the implants caused some permanent cleavage wrinkles but what can you do. Will update with more photos in a few weeks!

They look very nice. Good luck with your exercises. Not to worry about your cleavage wrinkles. I am assuming that you are a side sleeper? I had them really bad and decided to try a 'fix' for it which worked perfectly, if you don't mind looking like you are in a bondage flick at night LOL. Buy a cheap fairly snug cotton/lycra racer-back flat-style sports bra (Walmart or Target). Slather on a good peptide cream at night and wear the bra backwards all night. It takes about three months to see good results, and after I got my implants out, I didn't have to wear it anymore. I did entertain my hubby for about 7 years, though.
I think your result is so pretty! Your tissues are amazing - that you can have large implants removed and so quickly look that natural is fantastic (your 3-day looks like you've recovered already)! Try not to stress at the little imperfections - remember never-implant boobs are also by no means perfect. Enjoy the new-found freedom! I'm thinking about this for the future. But my skin quality ain't so great and though I had a decent amount of breast tissue it wasn't a lot so am putting it off indefinitely.
You look great! Your incisions are so smooth! Mine are really bumpy and jagged. It took my implants 3 months to look good so I'm giving myself 3 months of recovery after explant to figure what these will look like.
When did you take the surgical tape off she told me to keep wearing it until it falls off it's been 2 weeks and it's still there. She also did not give me any aftercare instructions. I had saline implants for 22 years and one of them ruptured so I took them both out. I'm so happy.
my surgical tape came off very fast and the steri strips as well! The surgeon gave me more steri strips to apply on day 4 but I found since I had been working out/sweating it was just trapping moisture so i went without both after day 5. I started applying polysporin for a week straight and my incisions are healing nicely!

explant muscle deformity

I had muscle deformity with implants in and was hoping it would go away with removal but sadly it is still there (where the pec muscle was cut during the original augmentation). During my postop appointment I was told that this will require some muscle revision surgery or nerve cutting procedure but to wait 6 months to see if there is any improvement/if it still bothers me...this happens anytime I use the pec muscle. My concern isn’t only cosmetic but also how they feel when flexed or in use...really regretting destroying my breasts and chest muscles for “big boobs” it really is sad!

Your breasts look pretty good for being less than a week out. I can relate to your disappointment regarding the animation deformity. I was hoping that mine would go away as well. I asked my PS about it during my 6 month appt and he said it would not go away by itself. Part of the reason may be that I left the capsules in. Your muscle can't re-attach to the chest wall if that capsule is in the way (from what I have read). However, it may be that actual re-attachment surgery would be needed regardless, which I am not willing to go through, either. At least your animation is at the bottom. Mine is mostly on my left breast, by the cleavage, so every time I use my arm to push myself up, it looks weirdly clenched. So I have to be self aware to just use my right arm. Annoying...should never have gotten the implants! I do feel that it has improved just a bit in the last two months, so it may improve more over time.
Regarding the concave appearance of the upper pole, that is not so bad, especially since you have enough breast tissue to "arrange" in a bra, in my opinion, and as others mentioned, you may fluff a bit given some time. My PS said that it is a pipe dream to tighten up breast skin with lasers enough to even be noticeable, but every year there seem to be huge improvements in medical technology, so it's always good to stay informed.
Do you find the muscle also feels strange when in use? I am hoping that it will feel less strange over time but currently anytime mine are flexed it has a weird tugging sensation on the breast tissue and it drives me nuts! i really hoped to avoid another surgery but I guess time will tell...I did see another surgeon prior to explant who did suggest stitching the muscle back to the chest wall and removal of capsules but this was under general anaesthetic/more risks removing capsules and also $9000.00 compared to $1800.00 under local freezing...just a major regret having implants not only an expensive mistake but also one that ruins your body
A little strange, but it felt A LOT worse until about 5 months, then I started being able to press down really hard without thinking I was going to rip the muscle apart. Now, after 6 months, it feels mostly normal just looks a bit strange on the left side. I am hoping that will go away more if I do chest exercises (easy to begin with), and after I get a bit more fat transfer done to that side. The weird thing is that with implants, the animation deformity was worse on the right side. Go figure. I am still remaining positive that they will eventually recover. The surgical repair is just sooooo expensive, with no guarantees. I know about regrets...but you've got to move on, and really yours look very nice, others would kill for them :)
I had my implants removed 6 weeks ago with a capsulectomy and muscle repair all at the same time. I also had drains. I wonder why your surgeon didn’t recommend removing the capsules and repairing your muscle as well. I had 3 sets of implants over 19 years with 2 ruptures (one saline, one silicone). I wanted them removed without replacement after the first rupture less than 2 years after getting them. I was told I would regret it blah blah blah. I found another surgeon to remove my third set and am happily back to my original aa/aaa cup. I regret ever getting them in the first place and am thankful my third set was intact upon removal. Happy healing to you!!
Who did you capesulectomy?? I want to absolutely make sure everything is removed
This s the first msg I have found about ruptures etc on the site.
My question is if you have had MRI and detected bi lateral ruptured Implants is it a automatic removal? And if not removed what are the results or complications of that??
I have had implants since 1977. No issue until now . No pain etc but contracture in one.
Is removal mandatory?? Etc
If you know that your implants are ruptured, I would personally get them removed. Implant ruptures can be classified as intracapsular (where the silicone remains in the capsule) or extracapsular (where the silicone has broken through the capsule). I have read that an IC rupture will eventually become an EC rupture over time. When this occurs, the silicone will either seep into the breast tissue or muscle. Eventually, it can become walled off by scar tissue (your body's reaction to foreign material) to form 'silicomas,' or the implant may become very hard as capsular contracture develops in an attempt to prevent further leakage. I would definitely remove implants dating back to 1977, but that's a discussion you must have with your doctor. Implants are only made to last 10 years. My first rupture was saline within 2 years of getting them, so it was obvious when that occurred. My second set was ruptured, but my doctor lied about that. I asked at my follow-up appointment after they were removed and replaced with a third set. He said no. I learned that they were ruptured after obtaining my surgical reports. I regretted getting implants from day one, and was somehow talked in to getting 2 more sets after the first rupture! I have done a lot of googling over the past 4 years and have learned so much. There is so much information available at our fingertips. This is how I learned that my second set of implants, the McGhan 153's, had a revised rupture rate of 49%!!! I had those textured implants in my body for 12 years. They were ruptured, and my original doctor did NOT take out the capsules when he put in the third set (per the surgical report). My new surgeon said I must get the capsules out when I had my third set removed without replacement in November 2019. I am so happy without them. They caused me a lot of stress and worry. I wish you all the best!
Hi I think you look great. I had 660 under the muscle saline implants removed about seven months ago and I also have the concave breast on top. It has not changed. I think it's called the snoopy boob and well I like Snoopy so I can't be too upset lol. Your adjustment is as much emotional as physical so please be patient with yourself and love your natural healthy self. Message me if need be. xo
Never!
Wow, that was rude.
You look beautiful, if you feel good who cares just go with it it's better than having those bags inside your body.
