Like you, I sweat for no reason. Tired of always having a wet shirt, being generally uncomfortable and never being able to take my blazer or suit coat off I decided it was time to handle this ridiculous curse once and for all. I was a little hesitant at the thought of using microwave energy to literally fry my sweat glands but after reading the research, seeing it had FDA approval and 10's of thousands of successful treatments I decided to take the plunge. I was told to shave my pits 3 days before the procedure, the stubble gives them a visual guide of where your sweat glands are located. I do a little manscaping from time to time but I've never gone Telly Savalas on my armpits before so that was a little weird.
I paid $2K for the first procedure and if I go back for the 2nd it will be another $1000. Compared to $1000 botox treatment that only lasts 4-6 months this was a no-brainer. The tech informed me they would be using level 5 which is the maximum for the machine. The MD, came in and applied the local anesthetic. That part was a little uncomfortable, pain equivalence of a series of bee stings. After about 10 minutes I was blanched (the area turns ghost white) and totally numb. The tech applied the stencil to my underarms( I needed the biggest one and there was still some obvious glands/hair growth outside the grid). You should be completely numb and feel nothing, my tech was super cautious and as she hit areas that were on the fringe of where the anesthetic always asked if I felt anything. The machine itself sucks a small area of skin up, zaps it with microwave heat and then cools it. There is a little blood that comes out of the skin, the equivalent of if you pricked yourself with a bunch of tiny needles. I wore a white shirt and noticed little dots of blood on it afterward, so wear one of the hundred black t-shirts you have amassed over the years and you should be fine.
The whole procedure took 2 hrs from the time I arrived at the plastic surgeon's office to the time I left and I received 47 shots on each armpit. I was given miraDry branded ice packs which the tech advised that I keep on for the first couple hours to reduce swelling and then as needed for the next 48 hrs for pain management. My doctor and tech were some of the nicest people I have ever met and I would highly recommend this practice.
The anesthetic wore off about 4 hours after I got home. I took 4 Advil and threw some ice on them. I'm about average when it comes to dealing with pain and I can say a lot of the reviews of the recovery to this procedure are pretty overblown by my experience. Does it hurt, yeah. Is it intense? Absolutely not. It does feel like you have a couple of Golf Balls shoved under your pits and the pain is that of a standard bad bruise. I slept with no problem the first night. When I got out of bed in the morning the golf balls felt like softballs but as the muscles relaxed they felt like golf balls again by the time I got in the office. It only hurt when I compressed the area and I did not take any additional Advil in the morning. I'm only 24 hrs post procedure but so far I'm dry as a bone for the first time in over 25 years. I honestly feel like I've won an great victory against nature's curse. If you are considering this procedure, do it. No regrets and so far it has delivered everything it advertises. Will update in a week and then monthly. The percent of sweat reduction that stays permanent will determine whether I go for the 2nd treatment.
Ps I'm not posting photos because if you have seen one armpit you have seen them all and if you care what your underarms look like you have bigger issues than sweat. :)

96 hours post procedure. I took Advil the first day and that was it. Have had no problems sleeping, working, shoveling the driveway or keeping up with my 3 kids under 7. There is still some swelling but down dramatically from the first 24 hours. Pain is that of a small bruise, barely noticeable unless I compress the area. Small amount of moisture returned this morning but nothing that is coming through my shirt or anything and still no odor.

So I'm one week post procedure! Still some swelling and numbness in my under arms but seems to be getting better by the day. My doctor's office called to check in on me twice so far, they really are great, and informed me everything about my recovery seems to be perfectly normal! Perspiration continues to be about 95% gone. The small amount of sweat that is being produced does have odor,a relatively small amount that I can't even detect through my shirt but I probably will have to start applying deodorant which is a bummer. Still extremely happy with the results and hope I my sweat reduction remains permanent!
I'm curious, how is the level setting decided on? Amount or frequency of perspiration?
