Good, but Not Great.

Good, but Not Great.

WORTH IT$12,900
I have a bottom all on four permanent screw in. I will start with the negatives.
1.The greatest con is BONELOSS from removal of teeth which makes us look ten years older.
2. The temporary unit is missing 5 molars, so I could not chew much for 6 months. The permanent all on four does not have back molars, so chewing still is not great. (My 4 implants are in the front and under the pointer teeth.
3. I am constantly trying to remove food particles b/c the all-on-four needs to allow room between the gum and the unit. Toothpicks barely reach so far down. Waterpicks help but they don't fit in a purse.
4. Surgery was long (6 hours) and painful and liquid diet only for 5 days. Then yogurt or mushy food for the next week.
5. Several office visits.
6. Drooling happens, especially with the temp.
As for positives.
1. It is wonderful to NOT deal with the scratchy uncomfortable partial.
2. The implants and teeth are very strong.
3. The appearance is better than broken or missing teeth although they do look fake.
4. Chewing is much better than before but I still can not chew apple skins or pickle skins and any tough meat.

Sometimes its better not to look for the quickest solution. If you had teeth in the bottom jaw, I would have got four implants and installed three tooth implant bridges in the rear of your mouth. Chewing problem gone. Later on down the road you could get teeth in the front fixed with a separate 8 tooth bridge on four implants. This way you get solid teeth with less bone loss, and the teeth will be less likely to break, as you have three separate implant bridges instead of a single arch. You also get more teeth this way, and can chew anything, and this is part of the goal !!
