39...upcoming abdomen, posterior hips, waist and inner thigh liposuction
I am extremely nervous but also extremely excited that after doing about a year of research I have finally scheduled my surgery. Real Self has been an enormous help on my journey and I want to thank all of the ladies who post about their experiences good and bad. Since the site has been such a help to me I want to attempt to document my journey. I'm pretty bad with this type of thing but I'm going to try my hardest to give regular updates.
I will be 40 at the end of this year and wanted to have the surgery before I hit the big 4-0. I am 5'9 and I have struggled with my weight in the last seven or eight years. Contrary to my weight, I have always had a problem areas, which like most women are my thighs and my abdomen especially my lower abdomen. Even in high school when I ran track and weighed about 140 pounds my nickname was thunder thighs lol. Of course I am I've gained weight over the years so I have my lovely thighs. Additionally I have given birth to two children who are no longer little ones. But after the birth of my second child about 14 years ago my lower stomach was never quite the same. I have this horrible FUPA or pooch but I've never been able to get rid of. Now that I'm single and don't plan on having any more children, I would like to be able to look in the mirror and love the way my body looks. Hopefully on next week, Dr. Jeffrey Umansky will be able to provide a nice platform to start loving my body again.I did find my doctor on this site. As well I did visit a few other doctors before confirming that Dr. Jeff Umansky was the plastic surgeon I wanted to proceed with. He was the last one that I visited but had the best overall experience from the patient coordinator interaction to the consultation. I also did my research online to make sure that he was board-certified, as well as checking his physicians license to make sure there were no litigation against him, I checked reviews on other sites about his work, and felt very confident that he would be able to produce the results that I was looking for in an effort call and safe manner. Over the next few weeks I will definitely see if that comes to fruition. I'm going to speak that into existence, so I'm sure that that will come to fruition. I will update you all on surgery day and follow ups there after!

Thank you hope1705! I am really looking forward to it.
You and I are about the same size in terms of height and weight. I am having strictly lipo to all the areas. Now with that being said, my doctor did warn me that there's a possibility that once my final results are completed in about 6 months, I may have loose skin on my lower abdomen depending on the elasticity and how well it retracts. He did state if I was unhappy at that time I could do a mini tummy tuck. But I have tried to stay away from that option because of the scar from hip bone to hip bone. The amount of a loose skin that remains will be the determining factor for me. I'm not looking for perfection at all. So if it's just s small amount of skin, more than likely I'll be okay with it. I guess I don't definitively be able to say that until that time comes around lol.

Day of treatment
Today is the Big Day
Today is the big day. My check in time is in about 5 hours. I thought I would be more nervous, but I'm not. I did have a minor setback that really annoyed me, but I'm trying not to let that bother me. I ordered a compression garment from Leonisa last week that didn't fit well so I returned and placed an order for another style that was supposed to arrive on Monday. Ironically on Monday USPS website was down. I check my mailbox...there's no compression garment. On Tuesday, which was yesterday, the website was back up and I check the delivery status assuming that it would be updated with a new delivery date of Tuesday. But to my surprise it said it was delivered on Monday. So I go back to my mailbox early in the morning and check again and there is no compression garment, I check my front door area...there's no compression garment...so now I'm frustrated. Of course I call USPS at 7 am and sat on hold for 61 minutes to place a claim and then I have to call Leonisa and explain what happened and I wanted a new one to be overnighted. Unfortunately because they're on the East Coast and I'm on the West Coast, by the time I called them they had already shipped all of the packages that were going out for the day. Luckily I had already bought a second compression garment from a department store. But that was just to be used as a back up while washing the other one, not to be used as my primary. I spoke with Leonisa again this morning for shipping confirmation and they said it shipped out today, overnight and I will have it tomorrow. They did a good job on handling this for me, but I'm still annoyed about the whole situation. Kudos to them, they did the best they could.
Like I said though, I'm not going to allow that to get me in a bad mood. I've gotten everything else ready for the day. I'm going to be sleeping on my recliner couch. I washed some old linens to put on the couch for any leakage. I've got my portable Beats speaker so I can listen to music, I've got my book and magazines together, and of course the remote controls lol. I had all my prescriptions filled, got all of my supplies ready, and I did meal prepping for the week so I don't have to worry about cooking. I made a lot of lower sodium dishes so I won't increase my swelling. I think I'm ready to get this show on the road!!!! I'll update you all soon with new photos :-)!
