I'm a product designer and improve the appearance of three dimensional things for a living, so let's just say my research was exhaustive and highly skeptical. I focused on pictures. Sam Riszk's noses are beautiful in their own right, and specific to every face. As much time as I put into looking, he was the only surgeon I actually met in person. He radiates elegant calm and sober intelligence. He told me what he recommended without making me feel insecure and I trusted him to do what he does best. I've just had my surgery so I cannot comment on the results yet, but I am very happy with the results so far and look forward to keeping you posted.

Hope your nose comes as beautiful as you hoped for , I know full results will be within a year after swelling has gone down and your nose has done all it’s healing but how do you feel about you nose so far ?
April 7, 2021
Love it, honestly. Even if it stayed the way it looks now, it would be completely worth it. It's not a cookie cutter nose- it's definitely "my" nose- but it's nice to still look like me, just without the bulbous, droopy tip.

Day three- no bruising, starting to look like a person again!

I'm on day three post rhinoplasty and am starting to get a better idea of what my nose will look like. I have no bruising and no pain and the swelling has gone down dramatically. After seeing so many post rhinoplasty pictures with massive black eyes, I credit this to my surgeon. The first day was by far the most uncomfortable and I was very happy to have my sister helping me. My surgeon didn't mention Biotene, but that was an absolute life saver on the first night. An odd thing that would not have occurred to me- my surgeon had me cut out caffeine for 48 hours before the procedure and I wouldn't have expected my two cup a day habit to result in such rollicking caffeine withdrawal headaches. It felt like the worst migraine I've ever had, especially since I was also restricted to only using extra strength Tylenol. I highly recommend tapering down to half a cup a few days before, because it was bizarrely one of the most uncomfortable parts of my recovery. The thing I really felt when waking up from surgery was an intense throbbing at the base of my nose. It's a little bit more than the painkiller could mask and I definitely wasn't one of the "I only needed a Tylenol" patients. You really do need the painkillers the first day, or at least I did. Lest this review make me sound like a complete baby, I think you're probably fine with Tylenol on the second day, which was mainly just mildly uncomfortable. I was done with the drip pad halfway into day two, which was a huge relief, since it does start to irritate your skin. I might keep this mind and go a bit easy on changing it all the time. I iced my face in fifteen minute increments for the first two days and the swelling has gone down dramatically. I also caution you to stay away from the mirror, since your appearance does improve dramatically and I think it could certainly give you a dark night of the soul staring at stitches and worrying about the outcome. Now that I'm on day three, I can see my nose start to take shape and feel confident that the result will be beautiful. I considered a less expensive surgeon but I'm honestly really glad that I spent a few thousand more on someone I had complete confidence in. Outcome aside, I think it would be a scary first few days if you had any reservations about your surgeon's skill. It does take a bit of faith to trust the process. These reviews were very helpful to me in my research! I hope this helps! All in all, I'm feeling a lot better and am very happy with how this has gone so far.

Day 11

Everyone says this, but please take my word for it- your nose will swell up to its previous size or larger once the cast is off, so don't expect that to be the day you celebrate. Do take a good look at the bridge so that you can remind yourself later, because it will swell up and the bump may seem like it has returned. The swelling is quite unnerving, since it does give you the feeling you didn't do enough and that you're back where you started. After worrying it was too small and I might look like a member of the Jackson family, this was a funny reversal. Now that the swelling has started to go down significantly, I can tell that I wasn't overdone and that it will have a lovely result. It looks good now and will look even better once the remaining swelling is gone. It is also strange to realize it's still "you"- it's your skin and very much your nose, with all of the damaged pores or scars or quirks you might have had before- just sculpted. Again, it sounds obvious, but when you're all covered up, whatever lies underneath feels a bit alien. It is ultimately reassuring to know that you will still be "you" and your mom will recognize you. Just improved. Know that Dr. Rizk's office doesn't do a lot of hand holding- a nurse took off my cast and I will have my first follow up with the surgeon for the remaining stitches 13 days after my surgery. The anesthesiologist called the day before and after, which I appreciated. I only cared about the surgeon's aesthetics and skill and was fine with this, but if personal attention from the surgeon is important to you, I might adjust expectations slightly. I've had no bruising- none- and aside from a lot of very itchy stitches, this recovery was quite smooth compared to everything I've read online.

Can you share before and after pictures

How has your healing been going? Has your swelling significantly improved over the past few months?
July 16, 2021
Yes, dramatically! I'll try to post before and afters soon. I'm honestly blown away by the tip refinement. I did not expect that I could have a really structured nose with such thick skin and a round tip to begin with. The best part is that it's not overdone. I've noticed a lot of excessive nose jobs since and am grateful that mine looks natural. Not one person has noticed I had it done, but a lot of people have commented that I look really pretty in a tone of voice that suggested that they were trying to figure out why. I am really glad I spent more and went with someone great. Looking back, it was a bigger risk (no pun intended) than I appreciated at the time. The process was incredibly smooth and I'm really grateful. I'd be happy to tell you more about my experience if you'd like to reach out.

That’s amazing! I’m so glad you had an incredible experience with Dr. Rizk. It’s sounds like your results are beautiful and I’d love to see any pictures you’re willing to share when you feel comfortable. Looking back I truly wish I would have consulted with him! I recently had a rhinoplasty five weeks ago with another surgeon but I can’t see any results yet and I’m wondering if he was too conservative or if it’s just swelling. I’m African American with a boubous tip and thick skin and my nose looks exactly the same as before the procedure, so just trying to be patient since it’s only been five weeks but I’m already keeping the possibility of a revision in mind and will absolutely be consulting with Dr. Rizk if a revision feels necessary after a year

Everyone says this, and it's SO ANNOYING, but I'd wait before judging it. My appearance has changed a lot and I've also gotten more used to it, to the point that old pictures of me seem strange. I often look in the mirror and wonder if he should have done more to the bridge, or given me more lift at the tip, but then I see pictures of me and feel more comfortable about looking better without looking overdone. I know it's so frustrating when you're in that place, but it truly is a process. By the time your results truly settle in, so much time will have gone by that you'll be thinking of something else.

Also, he gave me steroid shots at four months and I looked a lot different the next day. Swelling takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to go down and the skin also takes a really long time to normalize. I went out two nights this past weekend with friends and my nose is still red and swollen from a few cocktails two days in a row. I'm still not done with swelling and I'm at 4.5 months so I can fully promise you that your nose will be a lot smaller even if it looks like it did before now. Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much for sharing this! It's so true, it really does take such a long time for the swelling to go down. Hearing your experience makes me feel so much better and hopeful and less anxious :) Thank you!

I really appreciate your observant description style! I had rhinoplasty 3 years ago and your description of cast removal day would've been so reassuring for me in 2018!
Despite the healing of 3 years, I still find certain angles very disappointing and I am strongly considering a revision. I wonder how you're feeling about your results at this near 4 month point?

Thank you! I’ve heard that “perfect” can be the enemy of “good” with rhinoplasty! I sometimes wish he took it down a bit more, too, but I’m also really grateful he didn’t take it down too much! It’s a vast improvement and looks like I was born with it, so I’m happy with it and wouldn’t consider it worth it to go through the risk and inconvenience of another surgery

Aha, a perspective I very much appreciate...That emotional roller coaster was rough for me...but you keep your fantastic attitude because you may find yourself even more pleased in a year or two! I definitely prefer my 2021 selfies to my early 2019 selfies. It's just that damn mid nose cartilage on one side that still gets me! Thanks for replying!! Happy healing!
