34J to 36D breast reduction

Where to start. Well it’s the age old story of many on here, being very busty ever since developing at a young age.
Long story short, ever since having children I was never able to lose weight in my breasts, no matter how thin I got. have seriously thought about getting a reduction for years, and had a friend that went through it. I'm 36, 5'5", 168lbs before surgery. Finally hitting an all time high size at 34J, I decided to seek out a surgeon. I dealt with a great deal of back pain, neck and shoulder pain. The deep grooving in my shoulders from trying to hold up the weight. Not to mention, the emotional toll it took on me. I've been harassed, and suffered abuse due to having large breasts. It was a great feeling to walk through a grocery store for the first time after surgery, and no one was staring at my chest!!! So...I knew I needed a surgeon that specialized in breast reconstruction. I did lots of research and read a million reviews. Decided on Dr. Hijjawi. He was also in network with my insurance. Through the whole process, consultation, surgery day, post ops, I knew I definitely made the right choice. Never felt rushed, Dr. Hijjawi took the time to answer my questions. I had a lot :-)Of course my biggest concern was getting the weight off, (5-1/2lbs removed!!!) I did want shapely round breasts. And that’s exactly what I got! Even after needing a nipple graft with my reduction, the placement of my nipples, the shape of my breast, all of it could not be any better! He seriously gave me back the breast I had as a teenager. I’m 5 weeks post op, and so far I have gone from a 34J/36i to a 36D. And I’m sure I still have some swelling. I have a very low pain tolerance, and never had any problems! Didn’t get pain above a 3/4. Only took Tylenol and ibuprofen after the first day, and it managed the pain. I had more soreness than anything. Had to have drains, probably the worst part, but that only last a few days. And still, very tolerable. I’ll try and do some more posts about what the surgery was like, recovery, and things that helped me. This site was instrumental for me and making my decisions and getting prepared, so I want to pay it forward.

Hi! Thanks!! I'm so happy with my decision. I'm not comfortable posting pics without clothing, but would be happy to answer any questions! And if you are considering the same doctor, he documented my surgery (with pics) for future patients reference.

Stupid men spoiling it for genuine users. You look great and more in proportion now. I have a reduction last August from a 36E to a 36C I"m 5,2 and look so much slimmer now

It seems you way over paid compared to a lot of cases on here, WHERE do you get it done?

So my price I have listed is what was billed to my insurance. I paid my copay of 8,000 ( max out of pocket) insurance paid the rest. I'm sure insurance negotiated a lower rate with the claims.
Surgery was performed at Intermountain medical center in Murray.

It really bothers me that so many women make it about the money. "I want a Great surgeon but don't want to pay much "No one wants to give their services away. Sorry I'll get off my soapbox now. You look great!

Thanks!! It was an expensive surgery, but I would not have chose a different surgeon. He was amazing and very skilled. My insurance did pay a huge portion, and it's on me that I had a plan with an 8k out of pocket maximum. But I actually had two more procedures before the end of 2020 that didn't cost anything! More medical ones, I had been putting off and desperately needed to get done So it really evened out.

Hi I'm looking into the doctor and to start the process with my insurance. How hard was it to get covered? I'm here in Utah too and use intermountiam with Aetna.

Free Nipple Graft
My2020surgeryDecember 2, 2020
One thing I would like to add to my experiences and dispel the common thoughts is about the nipple graft. I did not go into this thinking I would need one. Everything I read was scary regarding a graft too.
My experience has been great though! Yes, it has taken more time to heal. They were dark and scabbed but that came off in a couple of weeks, revealing pink healthy nipples. So they are not completely flat(have bumps and texture), and while they are not super sensitive and don’t become erect, I do have some feeling. The pigment is slowly returning too. I have full confidence that my surgeon made the best decision in my case to get the desired size and shape. He explained it was the safer route for me, that if he had left the pedicle attached, he would be more worried about my nipples dying.
I know not everyone has that good experience, so I am not minimizing that in any way. But just know, there are good outcomes too! Ultimately trust your doctor, and do everything in your power to aid healthy healing.
I would be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for the useful info. Does anyone have any advice about a bra? I've been told to get one as I go into hospital.....in-between my current and expected size to be. The lady just said a comfy bra.....? Any advice welcome!

So, for the first several weeks, you will wan to wear the surgical one you are given. They pt it on you right after surgery. For me, I went to Walmart and got a couple of extra cheap sport bras, for after that first week. The important thing being they zip in front, and don't rub where your incisions are. I knew my estimated size, so I went a tad bigger to accommodate swelling and gauze padding.
Hope this helps!!
