I am a lean muscular guy who enjoys reaping the benefits of the hard work I put in for my body. Body hair just seems to inhibit the aesthetic I aim for. I’ve tried shaving and depilatories but with my sensitive skin, I always wound up having a bad case of folliculitis or developed ingrown hairs no matter what before and after care I applied to my skin.
I am having a rhinoplasty done soon and noticed the practice also has an Esthetician who performs LHR. I inquired about a consultation and was seen the next day.
The Esthetician was extremely welcoming. She asked me what areas I was considering having treated and took a look at the areas. She asked me right away if I was tanned or this was my natural skin color. She let me know that the process would not work if I was tanned. I clarified that I do not go tanning it was just from being naturally outside during the summer. She took another look and determined I’d be fine.
She asked me why I was interested in the procedure to which I explained my battle with folliculitis. She provided me with a quote for six treatments but revealed it might take up to 12 due to the size of the area. Additionally, she offered to do my neck line which she mentioned she’d done for her boyfriend and it turned out well. The total area ended up being my throat/neckline and all the way across my chest to the edge of where the abdomen meets my pubic hair.
I asked to see the laser and the room where the procedure would be performed. I ended up agreeing with the terms and we started the procedure.
As several other reviewers have described, the sensation felt like a rubber band slapping your skin. She was very considerate and would ask if I needed a break when hitting the more sensitive areas (neck and areolas). Hydrocortisone was applied to the inflamed areas as she finished. I’d rate the pain a 5 on scale of 10, with 5 being a pain that you’d probably want to schedule a doctor’s appointment to have examined and 10 being one of your limbs being amputated civil war style. After the procedure, there were tons of red dots which my Esthetician said was a sign it worked.
I’ve attached some pictures of the day after. Please note I had shaved approximately 2 days prior to the procedure. Some of my hairs still appear singed. While most of the swelling has died down it is still most visible around my navel. My next appointment is in 3 weeks. I’ll provided an update then with pictures to document my progress.

Hey mercs55amg,

Thanks for the compliment. I currently follow a push/pull/legs split with 1 days rest during the week. My cardio is currently limited to HIIT, as it's getting cold here now so I don't like running outside (it makes my nose run like crazy).

While the biggest factor is definitely my diet, it is not anything extraordinary. I'm not a carbophobe, nor do I practice intermittent fasting, or any trendy diet. I just make smart choices and rarely indulge in "delicacies." If I could offer one piece of advice it would be to avoid drinking your calories. Get an insulated water bottle and carry it around with you daily. Replace nearly all your liquids with that water and you will still have plenty of room for calories to consume via food.

It would hurt a lot less if you shave the night before or the morning of your treatment.

1st Treatment Results

Since it’s been 18 days since my first treatment I thought I’d provide an update. I didn’t really notice hair just fall out over time, but would see some appear on my wash cloth as I bathed. The most noticeable difference came after I shaved.
I last shaved 14 days ago using a foil shaver. As you can see in the photos the results are very patchy. This is predictable as hair grows in cycles. The longer hairs were hairs not affected by the first treatment. There are also several areas where the amount of hair is greatly reduced, even nonexistent.
I’m pretty pleased with the results on the first treatment, and have my next treatment in a few days. Hopefully, it goes as well as the first.

Keep us posted. How long before treatments are you scheduled? I’m athletic too and just doing abs, manzillian (I highly recommend it-was dubious at first but wonder now why we have hair down there) and underarms and legs. I had the diode laser which does NOT give a snapping sensation just a blooming burning sensation and in areas where hair is thin a warm sensation. What laser did you use?

Hi, thanks for the comment. My next session is September 5th, so that will be just over 4 weeks between my 2nd and 3rd session. I’m not sure on the type of laser, I’ll have to remember to find that out next time. I might consider a partial manzillian, I like to keep the pubic hair trimmed right above the penis, but will wait until I finish my current project to see if I’m happy with the results. As far as updates, I’m probably going to continue my current schedule: updating every two weeks after my last shave, this normally occurs 4-5 days after a session.

dickie83,

I just had my third session yesterday and found out the information I was missing in my previous reply. The machine is actually one those ALMA Orion Harmony machines with multiple headpieces. The one being used for my treatments is actually an AFT set at a certain frequency.

2nd treatment results

The following images show two weeks worth of growth after completing two sessions. I waited 4 days after the session to shave. Hair growth is still very patchy, some areas obviously weren’t affected while others have had good results.

First of all your body is ridiculously amazing. But in regards to your hair removal, it looks great. I had a friend go for years before she got that kind of result.

Hi brandi,

Thanks for the compliment and support. As I stated in my most recent update, I switched facilities to one with a different laser and cost structure. A large amount of hair reappeared after a long growth period (~6 weeks). I was not satisfied and am hoping to see even better results over a large period of time.

I will have to keep up and see what you think. I’m looking into starting that journey this year.
