27, chin liposuction, 140 lbs

UPDATED FROM Armelia

Liposuction was preformed!

Went absolutely amazing, I did just local anesthesia, didn’t even take a Xanax or anything. the numbing was the worst part otherwise it was just tugging and pressure!

I had my chin, jaw and neckline done. Now it’s just time to heal!

Finally have a procedure date

Finally some updates! Since my last post a lot has changed, mainly that I moved from Alaska and to the lower 48 and now have lots of options for chin Liposuction to choose from!

I had a consultation in Rapid City SD and was told I definitely had a fatty neck and the only thing they would ever recommend was liposuction. The doctor even told me due to the amount of fatty tissue I have (it’s like a collar; under my jaw bone, ear to ear, band of fat) that if I had perused coolsculpting or kybella it would have been impossible to fully treat (I guess on average only 25% of fat is ever reduced on normal coolscultping procedures) but I still would have spent several grand on those false promises. This clinic also technically offers coolsculpting but he said there’s no way I was going to get the results I wanted with it on my “collar”. Just too thick and awkward of a place. He was very surprised any plastic surgeon would recommend that over lipo. You guys were all right in my last post about perusing other opinions.

While I would have loved to proceed with this clinic, they only offered their liposuction procedure in which I was entirely put under for general anesthesia (unlike most places that offer local anesthesia/local numbing). This $2,000 OR fee was something I just wasn’t interest in (on top of the liposuction price). Great clinic though.

I then consulted with another doctor (dr. Schmidt) in Denver CO (6 hour drive) who not only will be able to perform liposuction around my neck/jawline/chin area but upwards on my jawline as well (so technically a little facial liposuction) to help slim my lower face from the excessive fat. I will only have localized anesthesia. The price is $4,500, a bit more than I wanted to spend but I also am having a larger area treated (which I am happy about. I didn’t know it was possible).

My procedure date is November 15th 2023. I will be posting updates. Thanks for the support

Confused

Well as the title shows, I guess I’m a bit confused now. Dr Dean was very very nice and informative but despite that, I’m a little confused now. See, when I walked in and waiting I had a scarf on. It hides my chin well. When she walked in, very sweet but she sat down by me with a mirror and said “show me what you’re trying to say is a double chin”.
Basically, being at a healthy skinnier weight- I don’t think my chin was noticeable to her under the scarf, perhaps I looked like I was being vain going there. I held the mirror, looked at her confused, and pulled my scarf down a bit more and said- “this double chin.... is what I’m saying is a double chin”
I think that’s actually when she noticed it.
She told me off the batt she wouldn’t recommend liposuction. She was very detailed and explained cool sculpting. She said for me she felt it could be a one visit thing- no numerous sessions. I felt great after hearing that but when I went home things just started nagging at me. I’ve researched coolsculpting lots- everyone has said they had to go back for more treatments. why would I be different?
Then I thought about how, for a moment, this doctor seemed against me being there for a consultation for my double chin. Maybe I was being vain? Maybe I was seeing a larger double chin than what was truly there? But as soon as I looked in a mirror I felt like crying. It’s not in my head- it’s right there?! So why did it feel like I was the one over emphasizing it? I talked to my husband. He too was shocked. He assured me he loved my body no matter what, but he said “that includes your sweet double chin”. It’s there. Why did it feel like I was being vain for wanting it gone?
To be fair, once she saw it in full she did push for coolsculpting. And if it really was one session (two sides during though) that would be great. But I got no information about lipo. And I feel super unsure about everything now. Because I don’t think my chin would simply be one session.
I think I’m going to get a second consultation to compare. See what other professionals think.
What do you think? Is my double chin pretty existent from straight and to the side? (Also weighed myself I am 142 lbs for comparison. ).

Not trying to seam rude but I see what you are talking about and I would most definitely get 3-4 more opinions/consultations before making a decision. I had mine done recently and with Vaser and it was similar to your before
Thank you I’m actually happy to hear that. This comment made me feel more confident in perusing other opinions thank you
Definitely get another opinion! I agree, cool sculpting takes too long to take effect! I had submental liposuction and had immediate results same day with only 5 days downtime. Had procedure on a Wednesday and went back to work Monday! Go for it!
With a Board certified plastic surgeon that has done the procedure.
Hi the same here my chin was soo huge dr removed 200cc from my chin I think liposuction is the best option
I have a very similar chin problem. At a coolsculpting consult they said between 25-50% of fat is eliminated( eventually) each session- good luck!!
I had 3 different consultations before I chose my dr,one wanted to add a chin implant, another wanted to suck it out at the same time as my body lipo,I finally chose a dr that specifically focused on the face and had amazing before and afters hope you find your doctor!
