Neck and facelift with fat transfer at 62.

Neck and facelift with fat transfer at 62.

My first face lift was done at age 45. I had time money, so I did it. Who knows how I would look now, at 62, if I have not done it back then.. Most people say I look young and great, but here I am again, back at it (lol), got time and money. With that said, this past Thursday I had neck and face lift with fat injection. The recovery is not a walk in the park, for sure, and gratification is not immediate, like for example after breast reduction/ lift, but hopefully when it all settles down it will be worth it. I would like to tell my story from day one below, because there is alway something new to learn...

Day of surgery. I was awaken in a recovery…

Day of surgery. I was awaken in a recovery room. The surgery was performed under sedation administered by an anesthesiologist MD. (This was very important feature that given me a lot of comfort, as I am terrified of general anesthesia especially if it was administered by a trained nurse. ). When awakened, I had trouble to open my eyes. I could not open my right eye at all. The pain was severe in both eyes, but particularly in my right one. Severe pain continued for approximately 40 hours. Thankfully it has slowly subsided, and following approximately 50 hours completely disappeared. Dr. Steiger advised to use plenty of tear drops.. The point of this information is that after I did some research, it points out on the fact that during surgery my eyes were not sealed properly, which caused drying out the eye, and perhaps damaging (not permanently) cornea.
If this is the case, it should have never happened. I will clarify with Dr. Steiger tomorrow. These are lessons learned, as we say in the industry I come from. Hope this will bring some attention and will prevent from ever happening again ..

Today I got my stitches removed. It was not too painful, not the way I remembered from 17 years ago! I did take Tylenol one hour prior and it worked out well. Dr. Steiger was happy with results. Explained that bumps in the face are expected, and assured that everything will smoth out well.
I would say, outside the problem with my eyes, days 3 and 4 were most difficult. Today feeling whole lot better! This is day 8 after surgery. I will try post pictures..

Hi everyone. Today is day 10 since the surgery. I am feeling a lot better, however still take Tylenol (2) three times a day. The discomfort is completely manageable . My face is still very bruised and swollen. Neck looks really good! My face, particularly cheeks are wide, hopefully it will come down soon. While I originally described my story, I did not mention that dr. Steiger had to correct the previous facelift, the one I had 17 years ago. Particularly under my chin there was like a ripple , very unsightly. I think it was the major reason why I went for this facelift. Also, the previously done FL, was don per some hammock method, which left long sutures on each side of my check. This left me with a feeling like I am hanging from the ceiling by my ears. It was so unpleasant ! I had that feeling for 17 years, especially when I was overtired, or when it was cold outside. Very weird and unpleasant feeling. Well, dr. Steiger removed those sutures, and it immediately provided me a relief! So grateful for that!!! Even though, I have pain around my ears and tightness, since I just had the procedure, it is better than before the old sutures were removed!
I don't think that that old method is used anymore...

I am doing better ever day! Dr. Steiger was happy with my progress. Stitches were removed on day 8 after the procedure. I must state that this was not just a facelift, but a correction of a previous facelift performed 17 years ago. My under chin area was screwed up from get go. It looks like dr. Steiger was able to corrected! So grateful! Of course, it is still very swollen, but already looks a lot better!

Hi everyone! Today is my almost two week…

Hi everyone! Today is my almost two week post surgery update. Getting better a little be a little. Still very swollen and pretty bruised. I have many indents and bumps on my checks, probably to uneven spreading of fat. I am not sure how it suppose to work, does fat find it's own way under the skin? I have no idea. Will se my doctor on Friday , will ask those questions, and will make sure to let everyone know. Thank God for this site, so we can share all the experience . I am posting latest pictures, as of today , and also will add some befores.. Happy healing everyone!

Hi girls, here I am on day18 post surgery.…

Hi girls, here I am on day18 post surgery. I must say that last few days have not been very good. Experiencing a lot of discomfort. Taking Advil 2 or 3 every four hours. Rubber zings under the chin, pounding pain in the upper jaws, and pretty painful around lower part if my left ear. So, there you go.. I don't think that any of these sensations are that unusual, except the around my lower part of the left earlobe. Will call the doc tomorrow, just to make sure there is no infection. please note I am not using any medicated cream on my scars. The doc said it is not required, and there is no real benefit from it.. This is my second FL, there was some cleaning up done , particularly on my left side. Maybe this is why I have such discomfort. Patience is the most important thing right now... I just re read my updates on breast reduction that I had done in August of 2015, that was a lengthy recovery too. So, there you go girls, easy to stay yuthful, not so much, but it us really worth it! I hope :-). I will be adding the most current pictures. Happy healing to all ))))

Hi ladies. This is my 24 Day post surgery…

Hi ladies. This is my 24 Day post surgery update. I am not a very happy camper to say the least... Still in pain, swelling persists, but most bothersome now is that I discovered my smile is crooked. I talked to my doc he said it all will go away in time.. My daughter is a dentist and she advises me to start therapy as soon as possible, as it looks like perhaps bruised nerve. So, of course, I am worried! Tomorrow will look into some therapy... Hope it will work itself out... Posting the pictures.

Food for thought ... Hi everyone that will…

Food for thought ...
Hi everyone that will jump on train of looking yuthful :-)! Today is four weeks since my face lift. Third day of taking steroids (prednisone)! Pain had subsided to minimum discomfort , just tightness around my face, which I am sure is expected. The reason I feel this is important notation for us who is not a doctor and/ or expert on facial anatomy, my situation with crooked smile could minimized if not elimimigated at all, if it was addressed expeditiously and completely ignored. With that said, I am pretty analytical person by profession and nature, I have reviewed all my pictures from day two after procedure and determined that the drooping of my left Corner of my lips started following day 3, when real swelling started to set in. I went to see the Doc on day 8 and he did not notice this condition , said all is great! Of course , the swelling proceeded, saw doctor on day 15, and day 22. I said that I had pretty bad pain on my left side, the doc said if I would like he could give me steroids to help with the swelling . I am completely unaware if my crooked smile, most likely caused by swelling pushing the nerve, impairing nerve function! That afternoon on day 22 my daughter saw me and alarmed me about the condition. She also proceeded to talk to Dr. Steiger expressing concern. So, the doc gave me steroids which I am taking now. After educatin myself about this condition, this is not a norm! Only 1% people have this after the procedure. In most cases it resolves itself, but imperative word is MOST! The key is to discover this and address it as soon as possible ! So, almost four weeks went by before I started the treatment ! I feel, for doctor to be so confident that this will go away, is simply false! As I learned my doctor had only two patients that had same condition and it did correct itself. So, ok! But everything is based on statistics! It is not prudent to just sit and hope for the best! One must be proactive the minute the condition is detected! Needless to say, I am not happy, concerned, but of course, hope for the best. I will be as proactive as I can be! Following course of steroids (8 days) I will start some therapies, I am looking into now. Ladies, please pay attention to every detail!
Happy healing to all! And good luck!!! Hugs!

Hello ladies, this is my 5 1/2 week post…

Hello ladies, this is my 5 1/2 week post face/ neck lift update. As I reviewed my posts for breast reduction, I have noticed, there were so many More questions for the breast reduction and lift than my face lift! It is funny, because before I decided to go for BR I also read so many reviews and asked so many questions, but did not do the same for face lift!!! Had I known that there is chance in hell that I can end up with a crooked smile, I would NEVER take this chance! EVER!!! I just did not know! Did not read enough reviews, did not really think that doing a little lower face and neck lift is a big deal!! Oh boy! Now I am feeling pretty foolish!! Ok, not being melodramatic, I would like to say the following: ladies , please, clearly understand the procedure, appreciate its complexity , be prepared to look like someone else for a while, and not exactly prettier.. And patience will be your best friend.. And so, it is almost six weeks post sure grey for me, swelling is a lot less, I am still broused on my chin, and cheeks, but a lot lighter.. My smile is still crooked, but I think, it is getting better. I will my doc on Friday, will ask if he suggests some therapy. I am posting pictures of my smile, because this is the most concerning issue for me... Thank you for reading my posts!
