For my 56th birthday.....a tummy tuck!!
Happy accident. My PS had retired, so I had to find a new surgeon. Read reviews on Dr. Chen, and scheduled consult. Turns out, he's friends with my previous PS, and has "inherited" many of us. ; )

I'm a bit anxious, but excited. I thank God that I have the rest of you who have already been there; done that....sharing your survival stories. I've had two (2) vertical C-sections, an inguinal hernia repair, and ventral hernia repair...so I do have some practical experience with abdominal-type surgery. Hoping I can call upon my "inner wisdom" there during the first post-op week lol. I'm so happy that the "wad of fat" that has formed above my belly button (formed during my first pregnancy...38 years ago) will be excised and the muscle tightened underneath. Being a singer, this also kind of terrifies me because that's the muscle I use to push my notes and get my air. I've got a month off from band gigs, and I imagine I'll be doing many diaphragmatic exercises (as I can) to make sure I can step up to the mic when the time comes. I've taken much of what you've shared to heart, though....I know the healing process takes awhile, and I'll listen to my body as I heal. If I need to take a seat, or possibly skip certain songs...I'll certainly do it. I've paid extra for the Exparel, which is supposed to stay in the tissues longer. Wish there was one that would stay in for about a month...lol. Anyway, thanks for sharing your stories. Wish me luck!

Thank you for joining us:) You are going to do just fine and will feel like a new woman at a month post op. Be super good the first few weeks and all will be well. It always feels so good to have all of the extra skin removed. It will give you the confidence boost you need.

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I'm scheduled to go back to work at 2 weeks post-op, but have the flexibility to take more time or do half days initially. I will be good to myself for sure though. I'm very educated about health and healing, and also have some nursing help lined up for the first few days.

You're welcome, it sounds like you have everything under control and on the right track. That's perfect if you have flexibility with work for being off a while longer if needed. Check back in with me and keep in touch.

COUNTDOWN! Only 5 more days.....I've got butterflies big time. Trying to make sure I've got all my supplies. My wonderful niece is going to hang out with me for the first few days after my surgery, and take care of me on the days my husband has to work. Question: Does anyone else have any experience with using Exparel when they got their TT? I'm paying extra for it. Supposedly, it stays in the tissues for up to 3 days to help with pain (so you don't have to take so much narcotic medication). I understand it is mixed with a small amount of epinephrine (to keep it in the tissues longer). Normally, at the dentist, I have requested novacaine WITHOUT epinephrine because it makes me feel really jittery? Has anyone else had this happen to them with the Exparel? Thanks!
