Ive been using a tretinoin gel (0.05%) at night for acne as well as aczone or dapsone gel (60 g) in the morning and doxycycline. Ive been applying these topical gels for almost 8 months. I recently ran out of my tretinoin gel and am waiting on a prescription that will not be filled until a week from now. My sister gave me her tretinoin cream (0.025%). Can I switch over? I am concerned about clogging my pores and breaking out. I am an oily skin type. Thanks
I started retin A last month and caused a lot of dryness so I am using it every 3rd night now. I just started aczone on Monday, can I apply aczone every 3rd night ( not same night as retin A), Im just worried that it may cause my face to dry/flake/rash/redness excessively.
I never had a problem with my skin until about 1 year ago. I was having some hormonal issues and my face became covered in closed comedones (no inflammatory acne). The Dr prescribed Aczone in the morning and Tretinoin at night about 6 mos ago. My face has cleared up significantly, but he didn't give me any guidance on how to use it. I have been using it along with a 2% Salicylic Acid and Cetaphil Acne Wash. Would only using Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, the medications and Cera Ve moisturizer be ok?
Just curious- I've heard various topical products should not be used together for a variety of reasons... usually due to increased irritation. Fortunately, I haven't experienced irritation using both the Aczone & Retin-A nightly as prescribed, but I was wondering if there are any interactions between the two. Could one possibly decrease the potency of the other (similar to how AHA/BHA can reduce the effectiveness of tretinoin if used together) ? Thanks in advance, & take care!
Went to my derm today for my acne..currently taking soladyn and retin a at night. But she uped my strength to .1% and prescribed Acezone topical gel along with continuing the soladyn. But she suggested the Retin A during the day and the Aczone gel at night..my question is can i reverse this as ive been using the retin at night anyways before the Aczone gel. Do you think this may be more benefical? And is the use of a daily moisturizer ok to use over the aczone? suggestions much appreciated!
