Help fix my smile please! Misaligned teeth and uneven lips (Photo)

Question

I have massive self esteem issues over my smile so having it fixed is important to me. Firstly, my teeth are misaligned. Neither my top or bottom top are aligned with my nose or each other. I also have a slight overbite. Secondly my lips are lopsided and uneven. The right side of my top lip comes down whereas the left side of my top lip comes up.

Depending on how much time and money you want to spend, this can be a challenging case.  If a midline is off, it is usually due to a missing tooth.  Opening the space where the tooth is missing takes time, and can be complicated, so seek an experienced orthodontist (not all are familiar with opening spaces).Usually midlines that are off are not noticeable when the teeth are straight, which is much easier to do.  The midline of the upper teeth to the lower teeth very often do not match, but nobody notices (maybe the PATIENT, but nobody else).As far as soft tissue problems, surgical correction is possible, but unpredictable.  Sometimes botox and fillers can create symmetry, so find a plastic surgeon or cosmetic dentist familiar with injectibles.

It will take an Orthodontist to determine if the positioning of your teeth, and the balance of your smile, can be fully addressed with braces alone or if you would benefit from braces in conjunction with surgery to correct the position of your jaw.  You may likely find that once the position of the teeth are in a more ideal position, the support to your lip will change and this may make it easier to smile more symmetrically.  Many people who show asymmetry in the way their lips lie when smiling do so out of habit and muscle memory.  You should try practicing your smile in front of a mirror.  We have seen patients make dramatic changes simply by teaching themselves and conditioning themselves to smile differently.  One last consideration, we commonly see people who have noses that are themselves canted in their positioning (that are not positioned straight up and down).  If a patient's nose is perfectly straight then that can be valuable as a guide for teeth, however if it is not then it can be misleading.  Letting someone take photographs from directly in front of you is a better way to evaluate this, rather than trying to gauge what you see in a mirror.I hope this information is helpful. With a complete smile analysis done by an orthodoncist you will be able to change this , not invisalign , needs to be braces and it can take more than 1 year , but at the end you will have a great smile.
