Collapsing of the nose upon inspiration can be caused from either congenital weakness of the cartilage or from surgical rhinoplasty  where too much cartilage has been removed from the nose. The treatment for this condition will involve a spreader graft, and possible alar rim graft and even alar batten graft depending upon the degree of severity of the collapse.
