Answer: Implant sizing Generally speaking, I consider two factors when selecting implants for my patients:1. Dimensional planning2. Gel Implant Sizing systemDimensional planning – The measurements of your chest wall are taken. Also, the breast dimensions including the height, width, and current dimensions of each breast form the basis of dimensional planning. Based on these measurements, the implant size is recommended. This will give you a unique breast implant that is suited for your body frame. However, there are some limitations of what size we can recommend. For instance, some implants may just be too big for a narrow chest wall. Your surgeon can review this with you during the consultation.Gel Implant Sizing system – During the preliminary breast implant consultation, you will be provided with an option to “try on” a variety of implant shapes and sizes. You can also visualize the possible outcomes of your surgery which helps you to get that perfect size to give you the shape that you longed for. This way your preferences are known and you can then pick a range of implants that will “fit” just right to give a soft natural fuller look. Hope this helps.Dr. BasuHouston, TX

Answer: Sounds like maybe too much of a good thing. There are many critical points that we are learning about the use of shaped implants. One of them is that when using very large implants, shaped implants begin looking round. In that event, many surgeons would wonder why even use a shaped implant in that situation: you will spend more $ on a shaped implant and are introducing the risk of rotation with few other potential benefits. I've had the honor of learning directly from pioneers in the use of shaped implants, and this is situation is one of the real hazards with some adopters of these implants.Provided you are under the care of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is experienced with shaped implants and understands these ramifications, you should achieve your desired outcome. Luckily, you have another fabulous resource for finding a qualified plastic surgeon here in Utah. The Utah Plastic Surgery Society is the only state society comprised solely of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. You can find an experienced surgeon in your area by searching here: safeplasticsurgeryutah.orgBest of luck.
