What happens to a Belly button piercing after a tummy tuck?
Doctor Answers 2
Should be removed...
The tummy tuck repositions the belly button in the pulled abdominal flap. When the patient has piercing in that area, it should be removed. Leaving a scar (which the piercing is) in between a scar, can compromise its blood supply and the quality of the healing incision.
Only in the case of a Mini-Tummy tuck, it could be preserved, as the navel is not (usually) repositioned.
