How to Treat Hypertrophic Scar After Closed Rhinoplasty?

Hi, I had a closed rhinoplasty 9 months ago- though I am pleased with the result, a raised pink scar has formed at the incision site inside my nostril. This hypertrophic scar is visible from my profile, so I am wondering how I can treat it- scar revision, mederma, other? Should I see my plastic surgeon or a dermatologist? Thanks for your help!

Conventional wisdom would be to wait at least a full year before revising a hypertrophic scar as most improve with time.  At that time, a small scar revision under local anesthesia could be performed if necessary.  Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Although the scar bothers you, it sounds like a minor problem that can be corrected with a procedure under local anesthesia. See your surgeon re what can be done to eliminate this little deformity.
