What are the procedures to minimize gynecomastia scars after surgery, and how much would it cost?

When i asked my surgeon about the scar. He said that it will leavea mark around the nipple which heillustratd to me through a marker.i do feel that if i were to get it done the mark would seem very noticeable. So i was wondering. Is there a treatment to minimize gynecomastia scars after and if so. How much would those procedures cost?

Your incisions will go through a maturation #process following #Gynecomastia #surgery. For the first few months they will be red and possibly raised and/or firm. As the scar matures, after 6-12 months, it becomes soft, pale, flat, and much less noticeable. You may experience numbness, tingling, burning, “crawling”, or other peculiar sensations around the surgical area. This is a result of the #healing of tiny fibers which are trapped in the incision site. These symptoms will disappear. If you are concerned with scars, with your surgeon's approval you may be able to use scar management treatments such as Biocornuem,  Scar Guard, Scar Fade,  IPL Laser,  Yag Laser,   5fu/Kenalog for thick scars, or silicone sheeting.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons the average #cost of #gynecomastia surgery can vary widely. #Surgery quotes should include the procedure itself, operating room facilities, anesthesia fees, surgeon’s fees, medical tests, post-surgery garments, prescription medication and other related costs. Most plastic surgery offices offer convenient finance plans that allow patients to pay a low monthly payment.
Costs will also vary with geographic location. Estimated costs can be found here on RealSelf.com, PlasticSurgery.org or Surgery.org.

It is imperative you select a plastic surgeon who is #board-certified and has a great deal of experience with male breast #reduction. Plastic surgeons who have specialized in breast surgery and cosmetic surgery are suitable to perform your procedure. Aside from checking board-certification, it is suggested that you look at before and after photos of the surgeons actual patients, and read patient reviews. Gathering all of this information will help you make a well-informed decision.

Male chest reduction #gynecomastia

Dear Arslane

Thank you for your question! The incisions for male chest reduction are small.  Essentially liposuction is performed first , then if there is residual gland under the areola - this is removed via a very small incision that usually fades to nothing by 6 months after surgery.

Hi there,
with a plastic surgeon you can get rid of the gynaecomastia by two small puncture wound less than 1 cm well hidden in the arm pit. rarely a small cut again less than a centimeter might be made along the sides of the nipple.
it would cost you around 2000 to 2500USD in chennai, india

Without examining you it is difficult to be certain if you are a candidate but many gynecomastia procedures can be done through 1cm or smaller incisions placed well away from the areola. That is how I personally do the majority of my cases. For cases that do require a larger incision you can use a silicone based scar gel to help minimize the appearance of the scars. Hope that helps!

Scar from gynecomastia

Why not start with the idea of no scar visible on the chest. The entire operation including removal of the gland if necessary can be done with a small spot inside the armpit. It's a well-established procedure in the plastic surgery literature. Look it up.

When you have the right surgeon the incision is usually inconspicuous.
How should I choose a surgeon?
Selecting a surgeon is as important a choice as the decision to undergo surgery. Choose carefully. The decision is yours. What follows is some advice to assist in making your selection.
1. Experience matters. Choosing a surgeon who has performed over one thousand gynecomastia cases increases the likelihood that they have seen a case similar to yours in the past. Selecting a surgeon whose practice is focused on gynecomastia exclusively is also an indicator of experience.
2. Results matter. The more before-and-after pictures a surgeon displays, the better. Pay attention not just to the number of pictures, but whether the surgeon is confident enough to show multiple angles of the same patient.
3. Reviews matter. Have patients reviewed your surgeon? Did those patients undergo the surgery you are considering?
4. Expertise matters. Is your surgeon recognized by the profession as an authority in the field? Are they certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery? Have they authored books or medical journal articles regarding your surgery?
We hope these guidelines are of assistance when you are selecting your surgeon. When undergoing surgery, it is very important to be realistic about your expectations. Past results are not a guarantee of future results. Also, revision surgery tends to be significantly more difficult than initial surgery.
