Laser Hair Removal using the Venus Versa, noticing some hair growth?

Question

I have undergone 3 Hair permanat removal sessions on my face. The technology that was used was Venus versa by a certified technician. I'm an appropriate candidate for the technology. I had great sucess after the first two sessions but after the third I've noticed some hair growth. I do have a hormone imbalance that I am having treated. Is this just the second hair cycle coming in or was the technology ineffective?

It will take a series to get improvement. I typically have patients do laser hair removal every 4 weeks for the first 3 times and then every 4-6 weeks for 3 times after. This schedule gives great results with hair removal. Some patients do require treatments to maintain results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a laser hair removal expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I wouldn't worry after only three treatments. The laser is targeting only the actively growing hair follicles. At any given time only a fraction of the hairs are active. Treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart in order to target the follicles that gradually become active. Think of it more as a thinning process. On the face we usually recommend 6-8 treatments, but everyone is different. I would continue your hormone treatments and express your concerns with your provider. The technology is fine, good luck!

Firstly laser hair removal is not permanent, especially when patients have hormonal imbalance. You will require touchups at least two times per year. On the other hand, it is needed more than 3 treatments to reduce growth of significant amount of hair. Minimum number of treatments for face is usually 6 treatments that are spaced out every 4 to 6 weeks. It is of crucial importance to keep your hormones balanced to enjoy longer lasting results.
