Your two front teeth and your canine, or cuspids, the teeth on the corner of your smile, are about the same length. You have some very short lateral incisors, the teeth in between. I would much rather see you lengthen those two teeth, than shorten the others. This could be done with either porcelain or composite veneers. Maybe even a combination of a little cosmetic reshaping of the long teeth along with the two veneers would help.Good Luck
Can your teeth be shortened? Yes.Is that the best thing for you to do? It all depends. In my professional opinion you have a beautiful smile and the length of your teeth are clearly within normal limits. I would not recommend shortening them. That would give you a less youthful smile and I am absolutely convinced that you would later regret. Your smile is feminine and youthful, something that many of my patients spend thousands of dollars to achieve with porcelain veneers.Another thing....your face is still growing and changing. Within a few years you may feel completely different about the length of your teeth.Just remember one thing, it is very easy and inexpensive to shorten your beautiful teeth, but could cost thousands of dollars to have to lengthen them again with porcelain veneers.
If you file down your two front teeth, a reverse smile line is created. This causes a big cosmetic problem. Some shaping could be done to minimize the discrepancy of the front teeth length and surrounding teeth. Before you do this though, look through some women's magazines and pay attention to the length of models front teeth in relation to the lateral incisors ( the teeth next to the front teeth) and the canines. In a beautiful smile, the front teeth are always appromitely 1mm longer than the later incisors.
Actually, it appears that you are missing your upper right lateral incisor, and your upper right cuspid has moved into that spot. The area where the tooth is visibly missing appears to be your upper right first premolar. The best solution without question is to have a dental implant. ...
