What is the Function of Nose Insert Plugs?

Question

I had a rhino /septoplasty and was told to wear nose plugs nightly. Does it affect the nostrils in the long run leaving them larger or is it for breathing issues only? Does it affect the nostrils overall. It seems to stretch my nostrils and make them looks so big.

I would ask your surgeon since this is not routine.  However, they may be utilized to help with stenosis.

There are some specific instructions that patients follow after a Rhinoplasty, but wearing nose inserts is not routine. They might be required in a few isolated reconstructive cases or complex secondary rhinoplasty. Ask your surgeon what is the purpose of inserts in your case.

Nose inserts will not permanently affect the shape of the nose.  Is is not usual to wear them after a rhinoplasty.  How long ago was your rhinoplasty?  Are you having difficulty breathing through your nose?  I would enquire with your surgeon as to the purpose of the plugs, and how for long after the surgery are you supposed to use them.
