CoolSculpting on neck and upper back

CoolSculpting has given us an applicator, (the CoolMini), that can be used in the bra fat area on the back, the area by the armpit, the knees, and under the chin. Folks are very excited about this. We have used it in our office and have very nice results. Best to talk with your well trained, experienced CoolSculpting provider to see if you are an appropriate candidate. Tell them what your reasonable goals are. Together you will come up with a plan. The cost will depend on how many cycles you need.

Cool sculpting procedure on the neck/chin line and the upper back

According to the company, under the chin is being studied and a new applicator for this area may be comin out soon. The FDA has not approved coolsculpting to be used with the upper back, but the area can be treated successfully especially for the "bra fat." Consult with a board certified physician who offers both surgical options and coolsculpting to understand the best options for you.

Coolsculpting on the upper back

Coolsculpting is used in Europe for the upper back and works extremely well.  It works exceptionally well for "bra fat" and other areas of a bulge that need treatment.  For the best results please consult an experienced dermatologist.

Upper back does well with CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting Complete does very well for stubborn areas of the upper back. Top providers of CoolSculpting Complete will have two systems in order to maximize fat elimination in the least amount of time. The neck and chin areas are not suitable for CoolSculpting. The anatomy of these areas are too close to areas of concern (parotid glands, airway). Upper back areas do very well with CoolSculpting with no downtime.

Cool Sculpting for Neck/Chin Line?

Thank you for your question. These areas are not the best for removal of fat with this technology. The neck and chin line are difficult to do with cool sculpting. There are nerves to consider, and other areas to be concerned with. See a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for this area. I hope this helps!

CoolSculpting Treatment Areas

Coolsculpting is FDA cleared for reduction of fat over the flanks, but many studies have established its safety and efficacy on the abdomen, as well as the inner thighs. I have also personally used it on back fat, such as the bra bulge, with great results. As it can only treat what can fit in its predetermined cup sizes, fat under the chin is to small of an area to be treated with the cup sizes the presently have available.

Where CoolSculpting Will Work

Thanks for your question. While the method of fat reduction would work in the neck and chin area, there are no handpieces that will accommodate those regions. The vacuum is significant, and I don't think that it would be a good idea to put the skin in those areas under that much tension for a long period of time. Also, there are other more important structures close by in your neck that might be affected by the severe temperatures used during the process. With respect to back fat, the machine can be used, but it is being done as an "off label" treatment. It will work if the vacuum can pull a significant amount of fat and skin into the handpiece.

Coolsculpting for the back

Coolsculpting has been very successful for the upper back, bra fat, love handles and flanks. Coolsculpting offers an excellent non-invasive, non-surgical option for treatment of these areas. For the neck and chin area, unfortunately, Coolsculpting is not an option. To find out if you are a good candidate for Coolsculpting for the back and what you can do about your neck, consider a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon that offers both surgical and non-surgical procedures to review your options. Good luck

Can the cool sculpting procedure be used on the neck/chin line and the upper back?

Coolsculpting is accomplished by selective freezing of fatty tissue using a machine with special applicators. Each applicator is a different shape and must conform to the body during the positioning. There is no applicator designed specifically for the head and neck region. Coolsculpting has been used on the back for problem areas like "bra fat" although this use has not been cleared by the FDA.

For fat reduction of the chin/neck area, standard liposuction is still the therapy of choice.

Coolsculpting is not for neck or chin

Coolsculpting is FDA approved for love handles and abdomen not chin or neck and thus we do not use it there and there would be significant risks if done in this area.

We have extensive experience with and have had Coolsculpting for over three years and see great results in properly selected individuals, location and fat texture are key variables.
